cleaning Breast pump tubing
how do I clean in the tube?
I already tried to rinse with water and boil them, but it looks like there is still some white spots (I am assuming milk?)
how do I clean in there, or is it ok with what I have done?

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
I don't believe you're supposed to clean the actual tube

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
You don't have to clean it regularly but if you have milk in it you pull of the ends-both sides- and just wash it with soap and water. Hang it to air dry or you can put some alcohol in it and then hang it.

I'll try the alcohol....(and pulling off both ends )

I made the same mistake, I have been trying to clean the tubing too.

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
If its your pump is by medela they have bags that you can use in the microwave to sterilize the tubing, basically the pump parts.

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
yes it's medela.
I tried the alcohol and it looks like the spots are gone. But I need to wait until it's thoroughly dry to be sure.
I am just paranoid, because I read that mildew can form in the tubes. They were white spots, so I think it's either milk or water drops from when I first sterilized the parts.

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
How does milk get in the actual tube - isn't the tubing just for suction but milk goes through the shield?

Re: cleaning Breast pump tubing
You shouldn't be seeing milk in the tubes. If you do, check all of your connections. You might just be seeing condensation.
After you're done pumping, leave the machine on with just the tubing attached to let the moisture run out.
