Clomid and "One Good Follicle"

Hi Ladies.
Please excuse my ignorance, this is my first cycle with any of this stuff and I'm just learning the ropes.

I am on Metformin, took the clomid for 5 days and had my blood/sono check today. They said I have "one good follicle" on my left ovary - Is that good? Should there be more with the clomid?
Since this is our first cycle w/ my PCOS diagnosis and DH's SA was good, we're going to try just BDing for a few cycles before going to IUI if necessary -

But everything I'm reading says people get multiple follicles w/ the clomid - Is this another indicator that I'm going to have a problem?

The want me back tomorrow for bloods, and then Thurs for bloods and another sono to monitor for a surge and see if the OPKs will work for me (I can't remember which hormone it is that causes the OPK to show the surge, but they said I may have a problem using the OPKs)

What do you think? Thanks !!

One is fine. That is actually the goal, they want to have the smallest chance for multiples as possible. Some women get one follie, some get more. Some get too many. Some get none. So it looks like you are on the right track. Chat Icon

LH is the hormone the OPK is detecting. With PCOS sometimes the OPKs can be inaccurate.

As far as follicles go, I never produced more than one dominant follicle on Clomid. The only time I did was my last Clomid/IUI cycle and they had me do an extra 5 days of Clomid because I had stopped responding to it. That cycle I had 3, or I think 4 follicles at trigger time.

Re: Clomid and "One Good Follicle"

Ok thanks again !! I feel better now.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Stelling, but I feel like some of the other Dr.(s) and the nurses are not as willing to answer my seemingly stupid questions. I understand it's early in the AM and they're crazy busy trying to get everyone in and out, but hello !! This the FIRST time I'm doing ANY of this, I don't know the procedure !! I don't know what to expect next, and I don't know what most of these terms mean yet - Google will tell you just so much if you don't really know what you're looking for !!!

Thanks for your help !!

I only had one Follicle on 50mg of Clomid. I'm currently 13dpiui, I go to the doctor tomorrow for B/W so we will see how successful it was. But I've heard of a lot of girls only have one follice and getting pregnant. You only need one!!! I wish you the best!!! Good Luck!
