clomid sucess stories (for those who ovulated on their own)

My dr. gave me 50mg to take on days 5-9. I ovulate right on time each month and I have a 28 day cycle consistently. I've gotten preg. twice already but lost both and will be using crinone (progesterone) as well.

So I was wondering:

Has anyone here taken clomid while already having a regular cycle/ovulated on their own?

and

If you ovulate on your own already, does it increase your chances even more? What about chance of twins?

Thanks everyone!

Are you doing clomid with a natural cycle or IUI?

I did clomid with IUI and even though I ovulate on my own I did take ovadril to bring on ovulation for IUI.

Your chances of multiples do increase with any drug like clomid but they are lower then other drugs.
I had 6 mature eggs at the time of my IUI and I'm only expecting 1 baby!

I do recommend (which I may have posted to you before) that you see an RE not your OB and have sonogram done to see how many mature folicles you produce from clomid.

Also with both of my cycles (1st ended in a loss) clomid was started on day 3 with IUI on day 14 and 15.

Sounds like your trouble isn't conceiving but sticking, you probably only need progesterone not clomid, but I'm not a doctor. Also since you had multiple losses you may want to have a multiple miscarriage blood panel done.

One was a miss and one was ectopic. Doc thinks it's was a just a case of bad luck for both losses, as I ovulate on day 14 and have a 14 day luteal phase. He is a family friend and said it can't hurt to do clomid and crinone

I did clomid with IUI and it worked on first try. I don't remember how many follicles I had but if I had too many I would've cancelled cycle...that's the benefit of monitoring. I ovulate in my own but used ovidrel too to trigger and endometrin after.

Not familiar with crinone.
It sounds like bad luck to me too! But please get yourself monitored after taking clomid before ovulation and Chat Icon, I could have very well had multiples and if it's not something your ok with (need to consider possible reduction if there's too many that take) then you'd want to know before continuing this cycle.

But I'm still confused. If you conceived on your own why the clomid?

my doctor told me that it is very common for people to go on clomid who have conceived prior/ovulate on their own. While it is especially for those who do not ovulate, it is a helpful tool in conceiving for anybody.

Clomid does control your cycle and help you ovulate better, but that's not the sole purpose of the medication. Clomid stimulates the pituitary gland to produce FSH which will create more follicles. Estrogen normally has a negative effect on the pituitary, so clomid blocks estrogen and leads to pituitary FSH production and ovarian stimulation. That is why people who have regular cycles can also take it.

Also, (while not as important), he knows that I am a teacher and if I conceive in the next month that would be wonderful time-wise :) He said a large % of people who take clomid conceive in the first couple of months, so maybe this could help make the timing work!

Why are you taking clomid if you are ovulating on your own and your LP is not an issue? You really should be going to an RE at this point and not an OB. There are really only a certain number of times you should be taking clomid - I believe 6 cycles. You really should be having monitoring done while on fertility medication.

i am being monitored. i am lucky that the dr is a family friend/close coworker to my mom, so I get the opportunity to speak with him and see him often. because of this, I feel more comfortable with my OB over an RE, because I am getting more personal attention with my OB than I would with an RE.

I appreciate everyone's concern, but I am OK on the dr/being monitored front. Also just want to note that I am on a very low dosage, only 50mg. Not 150 or 200 like others are.

I was really just looking to see if anyone on here had some success stories on clomid that they could share.

I was the same as you, ovulated the same time and got my period the same time every month. It still took me almost 2 years to get pregnant. I thought about taking clomid but the more I read the more I was scared that it would mess up my normal cycle, it can do that. I agree with the others, if you are regular, you do not need clomid, your problem is not producing eggs and getting pregnant, it is staying pregnant.

You only gave the Progesterone 1 month to work, and it sounds like you are in a rush due to your school schedule. I would not mess with a normal cycle, especially because you can possibly produce a lot more follicles than you need to, which will delay you even more because you will not be able to TTC that cycle, it is dangerous.

I know you are anxious to get pregnant, I have been there and have had losses as well. But I just wanted to chime in since I have been there and thought long and hard about clomid, and in the end with a regular cycle it can do more harm than good.

Let the Progesterone do it's job. I had a D&C in May after a MMC at almost 12 weeks. Got pregnant again in June, got put on progesterone at 6 weeks, and will be 14 weeks Wednesday. If you need anything , then I would think it's Progesterone, not Clomid.

Just as LotsaLuv said - I understand your frustration of wanting to be pregnant now. But what i think she is saying is that you gave the progesterone ONE chance on it's own to work before jumping to something else added on. Sometimes you have to give things a chance and as much as we want to be pregnant a certain month because of work - it doesn't always work that way. I am a teacher also and when I first started TTC I wanted to have a baby in april so I could have my 12 weeks and the summer. Life doesn't work that way for all of us. Also, as a teacher if I had an opportunity to choose I would want to have a baby right before ir after summer. Your leave starts the day the baby is born you don't get the addition of the summer if the baby is born on July 1st for example.

I have had 3 pregnancies with the help of Clomid. The first two pregnancies (my DS 2.5 and a loss at 27 weeks) were conceived the "natural" way. The third (I'm a 15 weeks) was my first IUI.

Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Do you remember which days you took it? 3-7 or 5-9, and what was your dosage? I'm doing 50mg so it's pretty low

Re: clomid sucess stories (for those who ovulated on their own)

My first cycle was 50 mg 5-9 for 3 months....then was bumped to 100 mg 5-9 and got pregnant on my second dose of that.

Mt second pregnancy they went up by 50 mg each month. Got pregnant on 150 mg 5-9.

These cycles were given to me by my OBGYN...but not monitored. In hindsight, not the best idea...but I did not know any better.

Then after my pregnancy loss, I was very eager to get things going again to I went to an RE. They monitored and then gave me 150 mg 3-7. Must have worked because I got pregs on my first IUI!
