Re: Closting Costs checklist?
Sorry... Here is my question? What are normal fees at closing cost? Does anyone know or can list some things? I received my "good Faith estimate" today, and im alway thinking someone is out to get more than what they need. But, i have never done t his before, so i need some help decoding it. TIA.

Re: Closting Costs checklist?
Well it depends. There is mortgage tax, title fees, points for the mortgage (if you get it), escrow money if you are setting it up. There are processing fees & application fees for the bank as well as misc charges such as flood search etc. There is an attorney fee for the bank, recording fee for the mortgage(s) & deed, you might have to pay tax, oil or gas adjustments at closing including any taxes that might be due around the time of closing. In addition for your mortgage you will have to pay interest because for example say you close the beginning of april your first mortgage payment will not be due until june 1st. When you make your first mortgage payment in june you will be paying the interest on the mortgage from may so in order to "catch you up" to may 1st you will pay interest from teh date you close in april to may 1st at a daily rate. I think I got everything--this is pretty much the "costs" there are some additional misc. costs plus you have to pay your own atty. Usually if you ask your attorney they should be able to explain it all to you. Good luck

Re: Closting Costs checklist?
If you get a good faith estimate... it will list all your costs... (approximately).

Not necessarily true--your good faith estimate will only be bank fees as well as title fees & mortgage tax. It won't include other fees that you might or will have to pay at closing.
