Coconut Oil
Does anyone use this for beauty treatments /hair/shaving/body moisturizer etc?
If so do you mix it with something else or just straight from the jar?
Does anyone worry about it clogging your drains? this might be a really weird question but I would hate to clog the drains.
TIA

Re: Coconut Oil
I used it for my hair and never again! Took 2 days to fully wash out.
I also used it as a moisturizer and I craved macaroons for the rest of the day

Too funny and pretty much this. It is WAYYY too greasy for my hair and my skin as well. Also for all it's greasiness, it doesn't really mositruized my skin any better than regular lotions and body butter.
I do think about the drain thing believe it or not, because of the way it hardens in the jar. I have to imagine it's hardening in the drains too. But you'd probably have to use a ton to really cause a clog.
Side note- it's awesome for making popcorn!

Re: Coconut Oil
Unless you're really doing it for the 'all natural product' benefit, there's no reason IMO.
I've tried it as a deep conditioner, and while it didn't make my very curly hair oily at al.......it was a PAIN to use, made a huge mess and didn't condition any better than my normal products. It was also annoying to wash out.
I do like to cook with it, or use it for the occassional sugar scrub for my hands.

Re: Coconut Oil
Yes I was looking at it for an all natural option as there are so many chemicals in most beauty products these days it makes me nervous.

Coconut Oil
I use it for shaving, love it, I don't use a lot in the shower because of the drain. I've mixed it with water and put it into a spray bottle to stop fly away hairs. I also mixed warm water, coconut oil and baby wash for a makeup remover. We cook with a lot of healthy fats and it definitely takes a toll on the pipes, so we make sure it doesn't go down the drains.

Re: Coconut Oil
i use it on the bottom of my feet and legs. I've mixed it with regular white sugar and peppermint and made an awesome body scrub for the shower.
I have used it in my hair overnite and washed out the next morning. for me it washed out fine. (olive oil not so much).
it has antifungal properties too.

Re: Coconut Oil
I love it as an eye make up remover. Store bought one are so expensive and either don't work, sting mt eyes, or leave a reside. The coocnut oil doesn't really leave a reside, I do wash my face with CeraVe after.
I also use it as a shaving cream & it does clog my drain over time, so i trying to limit that.
It didn't wash out of my hair well, and it was a little too messy for a body moisturizer for me.

Re: Coconut Oil
I can't stress this enough, but if you're putting it on your face as a moisturizer or as a treatment, please be careful. If you have sensitive skin, coconut oil can wreak havoc. It has a high comedogenic rating. Of course, there are many people who slather it on their face and don't break out from it, and many others that do.

Coconut Oil
I like it for a body lotion but it took forever to dry. It's amazing on sunburns too.

I just did a cool concoction I found online: Baking soda, sugar, body soap, and coconut oil and my hands felt sooooo soft.

Yeah I never understood this You are basically putting pure oil and grease on your face. I'd be an oil slick after that!

Re: Coconut Oil
I use as make-up remover, all over moisturizer, and after blow drying I use the tiniest bit to run over my hair avoiding root, best frizz tamer ever for me. I put in my hair once when wet, never again. I never use in shower because it is bad for plumbing. When I gargle with it I spit in garbage to avoid it hardening in sink drain as well.

Coconut Oil
Use out for my legs and belly while pregnant... No stretch marks. Can't say if it helped but if I'm ever pregnant again, I'll rock that stuff again
