Cold Formula...good idea??
so emma's teething and miserable....but she's happy when sucking on the cold teether things....would it be smart to put her bottles of formula in the fridge so they're cold and maybe feel better??
is there any reason not to do this??
if not....maybe just the nipples???

Re: Cold Formula...good idea??
DD had drank ICE cold bottles since she was about 5 mths old. LOVES them, wont take them any other way.
According to books I have, no medical reason they need to be warm.

Re: Cold Formula...good idea??
Hey Jess.. That is all I give Madison, straight out of the fridge.. I read in "What to expect year 1" that the warming of formula is just for babies personal preference.... she likes it cold, and loves to chomp on the nipple for the same reason, she is teething...
I dont know about that gas thing, madison is not overly gassy.... but who knows!!! do whatever works!

Re: Cold Formula...good idea??
My DD has had cold bottles since she was about 5 months old. I used to warm them up but then I stopped because I couldn't always get to room temp or warm water. She had no issues at all and my ped said that the stomach ache thing is false. It doesn't cause a stomach ache or gas.
Try it. It may help

Re: Cold Formula...good idea??
When Shane does get formula he gets it cold....same with defrosted bm, he gets it right from the fridge. Warming is just something the babies get used to because it's done for them, they'll take it cold if that's how they always get it. Try it, I don't know if it will help her teething, but it won't hurt her, the gas/stomachache thing is an old wives tale.

All of my children always had their bottles cold from birth. I never warmed them.

Re: Cold Formula...good idea??
you know what my DD loves when teething. I freeze watermelon, then put it in one of those net things that they can chew on. She LOVES it.
As for the bottles, I dunno. I wouldnt want to continously drink something that cold, that was my first thought. B/c my DD chugged her bottles and barely took breaths Unless she is going tochew on the nipple, I am not sure if that would help her.
