Picture of Liam and question about Nestle Good Start Formula (making it)
I figured I would post a pic of Liam for you all...I also have a question about making Nestle Good Start formula (or any formula I guess but this is what we use). Regarding making the formula it says to boil water and cool it to 100 degrees and then mix it with the formula. We have a Culligan Reverse Osmosis water tap which takes out all the impurities so DH says why am I boiling water. I do it because it says to on the instructions I figured if they said to do it there must be a good reason! Also I find it's easier (sometimes) to dissolve, but not all the time. I still have to shake it a lot to get the clumps undissolved. DH just uses the Culligan tap water which is cold'ish (not lukewarm, not refrigerator cold) and uses a small whisk we use just for formula and a measuring cup and mixes it in there and says he never gets clumps.
Should I bother with boiling it? Once I make the bottles I put it right in the fridge (I make enough for the day) so they end up getting cold anyway.
Now for the pic: Image Attachment(s):

I would ask your doctor about boiling the water as far as mixing the formula I noticed that it was mixed best at warm (a little more than luka warm) water. If it is too cold it doesnt mix well and if it is to hot it clumps more than anything. I dont use good start but I did use Similac and now I use Enfamil A.R. and I try to avoid the powder with this particul formual because it stinks when I mix it. I also have to say Liam is addorable

Re: Picture of Liam and question about Nestle Good Start Formula (making it)
He is adorable!
As far as the formula --- we always boiled a big kettle of water the night before and kept it out on the counter for bottles. I used an electric kettle so it was easy to reheat just a bit if I wanted a warmer bottle ....
But even so I found we still got a lot of clumps with the goodstart --- so we just dealt with it. I do have to say that I think it's better for a baby to get used to luke-warm bottles at room temperature or around there then warmer bottles --- because this way when you are out and about and have to feed them they won't get upset about a room-temp bottle.

We boil our tap even with a filtration system(DH is a plumber). As far as the Good Start I don't premake my bottles. I mix them as I go(room temperature). I use a mixing cap in the Dr Browns bottles and I have to shake for a good minute. It does tend to have clumps if not mixed enough.
