Colds and loose stool (sorry if gross)
DS is 3 and caught his first of many colds from preschool last week. The whole family caught it and we are on the mend, still a little sniffley and little coughs.
DS has had really loose #2's the last 4-5 days. Not pure liquid diarreha (sp?) just so loose, he has been having accident after accident in his underwear so I actually had to start using pull ups again.
I called the ped and he said to stop all dairy products for a few days.
DS is playing/eating/sleeping/acting totally normal other than when he has to go #2. He was crying the other day while on the potty saying his belly hurt.
Just wondering if colds and loose stools are normal from everyone else's experiences. TIA

Happens to my kids too. I attribute it to the fact that they can't blow their noses and they tend to suck back and swallow all that mucus. Mucus in the stomach has to come out somewhere.....

Its totally normal. They are swallowing a lot of mucous and stuff. I don't stop dairy when they have it. Actually there have been studies that this is a myth - especially in the case of yogurt. Yogurt can actually help with diarrhea.

Re: Colds and loose stool (sorry if gross)
Thank you!
I bought a quart of Lactaid and once he finishes that, I will go back to regular milk and I gave him a yogurt yesterday because of the probiotics.
I guess because this is the first time DS has loose stool and NOT in diapers, it seems worse.
Thanks again!
