Colic Babies
For those of you that had Colic babies do you have any remedies that work for ya. My girlfriend 1st time parent is a nervous wreck because her son is very colic. He is 5 weeks old.
Any advice would be great.

Tuning the radio to static or using white noise (same sound). Was a god send for us.

for some reason whenever I turned on the vacuum or hair dryer she would stop crying instantly!

The vacuum worked for us too. We even went as far as to record the vacuum noise and burn it on CD so that it would just keep playing. We thought we were going to burn out the vacuum; we had it on so often.
The fan in the bathroom was a soothing sound too.
I also did a lot of rocking with her. She used to love going up and down so I would get my exercise in and do dips while holding her.

We had good success with swaddling & white noise (the hair dryer worked great!)----I also recommend getting a baby carrier---I used a sling in the beginning, then a bjorn, that way I could atleast get somethings done! I read happiest baby on the block as well. GL to her, its tough, but you get thru it----many times he was crying and I was crying too!

ok ladies I passed along the information. The issue really isn't the crying she has not put her baby down for more then 3 mins to go to the bathroom. He is just making alot of movement with his hand and feet. The Ped Dr changed his formula and now he has a rash on his face and shoulder and she is freaking over that now. I feel so bad for her.

My son was very colicky and my Pediatrician changed him onto Soy milk, which I must say did help. I also got some Gripe Water - it is water infused with fennel & dill - it really helped. Warm baths help and rubbing his belly gently. To be honest when they are really colicky nothing really gets rid of the colic, certain things just help ease it a little.

I've heard Gripe Water works miracles!
My ped told us to use it for gas...today is the first day we are using it and so far so good! Poor DD has been up all last night from her gas
