College on line class question.
For those of you who have taken on line classes how hard are they compared to going to a class? In my usual fashion of leaving everything til the last minute one of the classes I wanted to take is full. Its a basic biology class. TIA!!

Re: College on line class question.
i looooved it i took several
i think the coursework and reading is a little more but thats bc theres no scheduled meeting times... As long as you keep up with the syllabus, it should be a breeze
my sis, on the other hand, took one once and had to withdraw bc she had no discipline

I loved it b/c it was on my time!!! I would get up earlier and do the work!! YOu have to be very disciplined or you won't do well.

Re: College on line class question.
I thought it was easier because I didn't have to listen to a prof. drone on during a lecture! but they usually involve more reading and writing.
i am doing my doctoral dissertation on the topic of distance ed., and people do the worst in math and science classes online.

I've found that it really depended on the professor........I've had some classes that were a breeze and others that were a total overload of work.... Try using ratemyprofessor.com..... it always helps me...........GL

That makes a lot of sense - I can vouch that taking my first stats class online was a terrifying experience. I love online courses, but math and stats online turned out to be a nightmare.

Re: College on line class question.
I took a few science classes on line and they were SO hard compared to an English class I took online, which was also a lot of work, but not nearly as difficult.

Re: College on line class question.
I actually found it tougher because with online classes, you have to participate for every forum whereas if you are in class, you may get away with a quick question or observation. Your forum responses tend to me long, dragged out and then you have to read everyone else's.
It wouldn't prevent me from taking another, but I never had one that was a true "breeze" like i thought it would be.

Re: College on line class question.
Take all the opinions on ratemyprof...with a grain of salt. My prof for this semester had ratings all over the board but he ended up being amazing.
