HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift ETW: another question....
looking for ballparks...
TIA
ETA: do you differentiate between your FSIL's shower and the one your sister would have?
I am trying not to, b/c after all, it is still FOR my brother (who I love immensely) but I can't help but feel a little distanced from it....
I am not in the shower.
she did not come to my shower.
she was the hair stylist at my wedding. I paid her AND I paid for their night stay in the hotel as part of her payment.
I plan on giving them a nice check at the wedding too..
the wedding is in PA..so I will also have to pay to fly there and hotel stay etc...
apparently, since I travel and have nice things, I am rich...and since my hubby has a nice car and makes a good living...we aren't being as generous as we could be (according to sources that will remain nameless)

Probably around $500, same for baby shower and subsequent births.

Re: HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift
I chose $150-$199. Because if my sister was having a bridal shower, odds are I'd probably be throwing it, so spending a lot on that, too. Although, depending on how much I ended up spending on the shower, I might spend more.
ETA: I just read the new info you gave. I would give generously - whatever that means to you and your finances - because, as you said, it's for your brother, too. If money is tight, I know you are an accomplished cook - maybe make her a cookbook of family recipes? That might be really nice and make her feel welcome into the family.

Re: HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift
I threw my sister her shower (with minimal monetary help)...so I definitely spent $500+
ETA: misread that.....for the gift, $200+

Re: HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift
For my brother, I think I spent around $100. But they are not generous at all, my SIL always "forgets" her wallet so I have to pay and therefore I did not feel I needed to give them a bigger gift.
For my sister, she hasn't gotten married yet but I would spend around $500 and throw the party. Totally different person.

Well I was in the wedding party so I contributed to the shower as well....For the actual gift I spent under $200 and then also got a bag of smaller sentimental gifts for my FSIL

For my sister- probably an obscene amount of money here and there. For the gift, probably around $200. Only because I am so sure I would spend another $300 on clothes, and anything else that ever reminded me of her child anywhere I went!

Re: HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift
Assuming my finances stay the same or improve, probably about $300-$400 - depending on how much the shower itself costs me

Re: HOw much did you/would you spend on your brother or sisters BRIDAL SHOWER gift ETW: another question....
I'm kinda going through the same thing right now. My brother was married last week, my BIL is getting married in November.
For my bro's wife, in addition to the outfits for all 4 of us, I spent $350 on a shower gift from Sarah, $250 on the shower (all the BM's split it) and about $100 on a gift from me.
For my BIL's wedding, I'm not in the BP, and they wanted Sarah in as a flower girl, but after her total freak out at my brother's wedding DH & I decided to pull her out. Anyway, I spent about $300 on a gift from Sarah, and then I was figuring between $150 & $200 from me.
We are giving them the same amount as a wedding gift since we thought that was fair since they are both our only siblings.
