Re: Colposcopy...
I had many. Its not bad. Its over in 5 minutes. They are basically taking a deeper look at the cells of your cervix and take a small scraping of the cells out to look at. some cramping and it can be uncomfortable.
I had about 5 and 2-3 of them, I felt NOTHING, like a pap smear, the other two I had some cramping, and took some motrin and was better.

Re: Colposcopy...
Thanks! Have you ever had to go on to the LEEP procedure, bec this one wasn't able to get everything? Could this affect fertility in any way??

Re: Colposcopy...
I had a Leep yes, as well as some laser sugery. The Dr said it wont affect my cervix opening when PG but it did cause some scarring over the cervix opening which is causing some TTC issues now.

Re: Colposcopy...
I've had them and, not to scare you, but I was in lots of pain.
I had to have DH drive me home.
Again, I don't want to scare you (I know plenty of others who had the same experience as Donna) but I want you to be prepared in case.

Re: Colposcopy...
I have had 2 colposcopies, and one cancelled. I felt cramping and a weird pinch when they took the sample, but I was able to leave and drive home and carry on with my day as normal. Maybe take some Advil beforehand just in case.
I didn't need to have a LEEp, all tests came back negative. But of course, I still need to get a pap every 6 months and it seems I need a colposcopy once a year now.
Good luck and try to relax.

Re: Colposcopy...
I've had three colposcopies and a conal biopsy(a little more advanced than a LEEP). The colposcopies were not a big deal, drove myself home and maybe a little cramping and some staining. The conal is surgery - outpatient - and you have to stay off your feet for three days. This has also caused some scar tissue buildup, which has affected my TTC issues...but it's better than the alternative.

Re: Colposcopy...
I had a colposcopy that wasn't fully successful, followed by a LEEP also, like many of the other ladies. I find it interesting that they are doing it in the reverse order in your case. I thought the LEEP was more invasive than the colposcopy.
I don't know if I have any scar tissue as a result of the LEEP, but I was told it was a possibility. I didn't feel anything with the colposcopy but the anaesthetic didn't work properly at the LEEP and I felt all of that. I was told to stay off my feet for the day, but I felt fine and I went shopping.

Re: Colposcopy...
Please don't think the worst -- as I said I've had a few colposcopies and never had to have LEEP...same thing with a couple of my friends. Hopefully it will be just that, over and done with in no time.

Re: Colposcopy...
Yeah, you should be getting the colposcopy first...then if there is a problem they will talk to you about a LEEP, conal or freezing. Your doctor should give you the pros and cons of each.

Re: Colposcopy...
PLEASE dont worry yet...way too soon to worry.
My example is a worst case...I had mnay colposcopies...then biopsies, over a matter of years before the leep.
MANY women have colposcopies...heck I think almost all my friends have, and I think one one had a leep and she has a baby and got PG right after starting to try, so try not to think the worst cause the worst probably WONT happen.
the chances are for you that all is gonna be fine
