Colposcopy and TTC?
I just found out that I had an abnormal pap (for the 2nd time) and have to go for a colposcopy (for the 2nd time). We were going to start TTC next month. Will this procedure affect my chances of getting pregnant? Does it make it more difficult to get pregnant? TIA

Re: Colposcopy and TTC?
I have had a colposcopy long before I was married and TTC.
The procedure in and of itself shouldn't have any effect on your ability to get pregnant. The doctor may tell you to refrain from s ex for one or more cycles so your body can heal and you reduce your risk for infection. I am having a procedure (though more invasive than a colposcopy) next week as well. I was told that I would need to wait to resume TTC for at least one cycle.
I think it is really important to be diligent about your reproductive health and have the colposcopy. I know it stinks to have to wait. I hate waiting myself.

Re: Colposcopy and TTC?
I had a colposcopy last month. It turned out everything was completely normal and so I didn't need a biopsy. I could immediately resume all normal activities. I think if you need a biopsy, then you have to refrain from s-e-x and hence TTC for several weeks to allow the cervix to heal. Even if you did need the biopsy, I don't think that would have a negative impact on your chances to get pg.
Good luck, I hope everything turns out ok for you.

Yup. If the doctor can see the entire abnormal area of your cervix, you may not need a biopsy and you should be fine.
