Sensitive question about drinking and TTC

AF is due the 17th.....this weekend is a St Patrick's day parade that has, in the past, been a huge party drink fest with good friends. I am so looking forward to it but my DH DOES NOT want me to drink...I know I sound selfish but for the past two months of us TTC I have not drank and got a BFN anyway...

I am not a big drinker at all but this is the one time a year I generally go overboard Chat Icon I was thinking about taking a first response test first thing in the AM Saturday and go from there...........what do you think? Chat Icon

Re: Sensitive question about drinking and TTC

I think that you are ok to drink. If you are pregnant (which I am praying that you are), the alcohol that you consume will not be getting into the babys blood stream at this point.
So enjoy!!

Re: Sensitive question about drinking and TTC

I drink all the time in the 2WW.

You have to think literal....A baby is not more then a bunch of "cells" untill about 6 weeks of PG. There is NO blood stream for any alcohol to get in to that early.....

Unless you have true fertility issues, there is no reason why you can't drink. Jeez I have true issues and I drink -- after a time you have to stop putting things on "hold" "just in case..."

Re: Sensitive question about drinking and TTC

I didn't drink during the 2ww in the beginning either - but after doing that month after month and still getting BFN I decided it was OK to drink a little during the 2ww.

I think if you drink St Pats day you will be fine.

Re: Sensitive question about drinking and TTC

You can definitley drink. In fact, many people will tell you that being a little tipsy is the perfcet tiome for conception because you're extra relaxed. There were a lot of birthdays in January and February, as well as the Super Bowl, so I did quite a bit of boozing during the 2ww. I'm 8 weeks preggo today and so far so good (knock on wood) I just stopped drinking as soon as I got the BFP. I figured that getting pregnant could take up to a year and I wasn't going to stop drinking for a year, and THEN the 9 months of pregnancy.

Enjoy yourself! It might be the last time to do so. I drank the day before AF was due (and quite a bit). I found out i was preggers 2 days later. I told my doctor and he said don't sweat it, it does no harm to the baby at that time. Just don't drink after you find out.

I agree....enjoy yourself, and relax, the more you think about it the more stressed you will get.
