come meet samantha jayne!(w/birth story!)
Sorry I took so long to post this - or that its so long! I first want to thank everyone for all their help and support throughout my entire pregnancy. While last week it seemed like she would never come (sorry about my posts!), she is here and amazing! We are so in  !
We were actually scheduled to be induced on Sat. since my doctor knew how anxious I had become....and honestly girls, I would say don't pressure yourself like I did - it certainly didn't help - its not uncommon for firt time moms especially to be late (apparently its a 7 out of 10 statistic!). When she arrived she was a mere three days late - but since I had convinced myself she'd be early by a week, I kinda did myself in! OOPS!
But little did we know that on Thursday, Samantha had other plans and we wouldn't need that appt anyway!
Strangely on that same morning I woke up with a sore throat and feeling kinda crappy...the first time since being preggers really - but naturally I justified it in my mind that this was why she wasn't here b/c "imagine beng sick with a cold while having a newborn" and so I thought nothing of it I showered, and felt better so I decided to go shopping and try and finish up all the stuff I wanted to do before Samantha was born!....I spent the day shopping (yup, by myself!) and kinda realized that maybe something was going on but also knew since I wanted it so bad at this point, that I could be imagining it - my stomach felt different and all but didn't even hurt really so I kinda ignored it and chalked it up to my not feeling so hot/getting a cold and didn't even tell dh. I figured he would just worry and knew he was scheduled to get home early that day anyway since he went in early, so I'd see him soon enough!
Ironically my dh had also invited his aunt over for dinner and to see the nursery since she hadn't seen it yet, so I got home, made food and cleaned....I guess now all in the early, early stages of labor....but with no clue 
Dh of course got stuck at work so I was a little pissy and all at him but understood..at this point I thought maybe something was going on but more that the baby was dropping a little lower, not that she was kinda on her way......there wasn't a ton of pain or anything I just felt imcomfy - really, the only word I could find to describe it..
around 8 dh's aunt came, we hung out, showed her the baby stuff and just relaxed..I was mad b/c she left at exactly 10:05 and we missed grey's anatmoy which I love. Now, I still hadn't told dh that I thought maybe it was happening - why I still won't kow I am just crazy and silly and was afraid I was imagining things so we watched some tv, i told him I was a little uncomfy and around 11:30ishg we decided to go to bed. (poor dh left for work at 5 am the morning before and was zonked!)
I couldn't really get comfy and around 12:30 decided something was definitely up - I kept feeling like I had to pee and would pee a little and then repeat once I walked back to bed.....so I woke dh around 1 and we started reading all the pregnancy and labor books we had...we deicded to time the weird feelings I had and found them to be about 3-4 mins apart but my water hadn't broke so we were trying to figure out what to do....
finally, dh persuaded me to at least call the dr. Reluctantly I did but we knew he wasn't going to be on since he had a conference the next day and had told us, so i spoke to his associate who told me I was prob in the early stages (I was still not in pain, pain but have a high tolerance) and told me that I prob should just stay at home for a few hrs and call him back.....something in me said "nah" and so I kinda explained that I knew something was happening at this pt since I had a great pregnancy and half reluctantly he agreed to let us meet him at the hospital.
So we got dressed, petted our puppy and were on our way - I half expected them to check me, laugh and say come back sat still at this point!
We checked into St Charles at 1:30 am on friday morning and even the woman in the er who checked us in said she wouldn't have guessed I was in labor! They hooked me up to the monitor thing and I noticed that when I felt what by now I thought might be a contraction (yes, hello I am an idiot!) - it wasn't really showing, but the nurse was so nice and soon the dr came in....well, he checked me and....7 cm....He said he almost choked b/c there I was talking and laughing with the staff and almost fully ready to go. We talked about maybe doing the epidural and he said the anesthesiologist would be around in a while but was helping with a c-section first so we kinda hung out for about an hour and half or so....once he finally arrived, dh and I decided to go for it, he put it in and before dh could come back in the room, the dr decided to check me again....and guess what - 10 cm! We were ready .....after another hr and a half of pushing, she was born....
all in all it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it to be, not that I would do it every day but still  ...by midday on friday (four hrs after getting a room!) i was wearing my clothes, showered and walking around..while I did have a slight tear, i was lucky enough not to need any pain meds.... and she is so worth it....she is a wonderful baby who so far sleeps very well...we mostly have to wake her at night to feed her!

I know - Dr. Ninia was so sweet and upset he missed it when we saw him. Dr Erhart (sp?)was wonderful though!

OK...so I officially stink with the re-sizer - one is huge and one is small! (but i love the crown one...my mom brought us the crown and a birthday cake which all the people who came to visit had...the cake said happy birthday samantha jayne!)

Thanks for sharing your birth story, especially all the details before you realized you were in labor. I do have a question...did they put the epi in but didn't turn it on?
