Communion Dresses***update***
Where did/will you buy? How much did/will you spend?
DD spotted them at Lobels in the Massapequa Mall the other day. She tried on 2 that she loved, but they were almost $400. What is the going rate? Is it that much?
Also, do I buy now or wait? Do they grow much in 5 months?
*******update******* My cousin suggested a store called Barrons in the Tri County Flea Market. We got a beautiful dress for $110 and a head piece and veil $80. Will post when the communion takes place. Thanks.

Re: Communion Dresses
$400 !!!
DD made her communion in 2007 - but I got her dress off of ebay believe it or not. It was brand new, and about $40 for the dress and headpiece !! I looked it up and the seller that I used doesn't have anything listed, but here's a few other cute ones that I saw...

As far as buying it now or waiting, has she grown much in the past 6 months? Does she usually grow consistently or go through spirts of growth? I know with my daughter back then, she wasn't growing much. If she is perfect in the size she is now, maybe go one size up.

Re: Communion Dresses
Absolutely go to Little Rascals in West Islip!
we had a dress from my niece we were going to use but a few weeks to the Communion, it didn't fit. I suppose I could've had it altered but seeing the dresses her friends were wearing & knowing she'd want more bling, I took her there.
They treated her like the Duchess of Windsor had entered their shop. She was in heaven. They also convinced me that the super expensive dress she tried on & I loved would irritate her by the end of the day & so they steered me to a different (and significantly less expensive) dress that was just as nice. I was so impressed with this store, I can't say enough about it.
Try to go on an off day if you can because the inventory is overwhelming & I'd hate to go there if i was crowded.
I can't remember how much Maddie's was but I think about $180. If you want to look at it to borrow, let me know. She was a size 7 last year but the tag says size 5.

Re: Communion Dresses
There are a ton of online retailers that charge much less than $400 for a communion dress. If money isn't an object, than I would get it. Otherwise I would look at the ebay retailers and places like mygirldress.com
