Communion Hair Style & Accessories

My daughter communion is coming up and I have to go shopping. I live in Nassau county. Where is the best place for dress and Accessories? what kind of Accessories does every one buy:

dress
shoes
pocketbook
bible
rosarybeads
head vail
bouquet flowers

Am I missing anything else? can anyone post pic of rosarybeads and where you got them? Is this something that should come from the mom. Her grandmother is buying the dress. how about hair styles? Thanks in advance, getting stress!!!

Communion Hair Style & Accessories

I'm in Suffolk so I can't recommend the best places in Nassau but I know a lot of people do well with Tri-County, and JC Penney has a nice selection of dresses too. I got my daughter's rosary at a relgious store in Bay Shore (Advent Shop). They had a nice selection of beads and had gift sets that included the beads, prayer book and a little case for the beads. I had a little bag from my wedding but my daughter didn't even need it for church so I didn't end up using it. She just carried the bouquet, that was it.

Her Communion was on a Saturday evening and I had the party the next day so it didn't make sense to have her hair done so I just used a bun maker and did a high bun each day. It came out really cute. :)

They are both beautiful and affordable.

Shoes are from Children's Place online- $11 on clearance

I got a fake bouquet from Bed Bath and Beyond online, believe it or not. I figure she can keep it as a keepsake too

She has really fine hair so any elaborate hairstyle is not happening. I suck at doing hair, so I am taking her to the Lemon Tree that morning and they can deal with it. Just a simple bun or updo around the veil headpiece.

No pocketbook- she wouldn't have a use for it I don't think

I didn't get rosarys or a bible anything like that. I didn't even think about it to be honest.
To me, that's just extra stuff that she will never even look at and we have nowhere to store a ton of stuff in our house.

Dumb question but are bibles and rosary standards? What about bouquets? My DD is making it next weekend and I have none of this! She doesn't want a purse or a veil just flowers in her hair. She's a little bohemian/tomboyish so I don't know what to do and girls are so diff from sons for communion! I'm lost!

The bouquets will depend on your church's rules.
My church allows them, but I heard a lot of churches do not- so you'd only be using it for pictures if you wanted.

Bibles and rosarys- eh I didn't get them. She's not going to be carrying those around and into the church so I skipped it.
She's not really a bible and rosary type of girl.

Just wanted to add we have to be at the church at 9am. I CAN NOT do hair lol so I have the girl that usually cuts my hair coming to my house to do Laras hair shes charging me 50 bucks. Its worth it or she would be wearing a ponytail for her communion lol

As for the bible and rosaries, I don't think they're a must. My mother in law got the little prayer book b/c she wanted to. I got the rosary since she doesn't have one yet and we are pretty religious and I thought it would be nice for her to have one.

I had no intention on doing a bouquet until the rehearsal 4 days before and every other girl raised their hand when asked if they were carrying flowers. I got the sad eyes so I had to get one.

I just d all of this for my Goddaughter. We went to Cathy’s Touch in Merrick and got everything, because I am lazy! LOL
We did go to Burlington/ MJM for the shoes, but everything else was from Cathy’s. We initially went to Charlottes Kids and Tri county, but was very pleased with Cathy’s. Good Luck and God Bless.
