Community service / trip ideas for student council
I run the student council in my school. We have lots of drives (food, clothing, etc.) and we do visit senior centers but just looking for ideas of places to go that would allow student to get a hands on experience. such as boxing up care packages, working the line in a soup kitchen, etc. Any recs of specific places on LI? Thanks!

There is a great organization called Birthday Wishes.
http://longisland.birthdaywishes.org/volunteer/
They provide birthday parties and gifts for kids living in homeless shelters.
They need all kinds of help- making goody bags, decorating for the party, running party games.

what about boots on the ground ny
i'm on the other side of the country and i've donated... and my son has received a care package from them.
they also do a lot for vets in the local area.

Ronald McDonald House. You will actually make meals for the families that are staying there while their children are reviving medical treatment.
