Hats off to all of you who do it! DH & I were in the city today and when I commuted to the city, I did it from western Nassau and never realized how lucky I was to have such a short train ride. Kudos to you guys who do this everyday!Chat Icon

Shhhh....DH still complains that I made him move out east (aka "the sticks" as he calls it).

I call it the sticks too! All the way back from the city, esp since we were on the train for an hour past what had been my stop, I kept saying to DH, "Be glad I stopped commuting before we were married or you would hear it EVERY night!"Chat Icon

Re: Commuting to the city from Suffolk

My DH use to live in Western Nassau & commutes to the city & when he moved out here to Huntington he added an hour to his commute but he doesn't mind it because he likes the train. I on the other hand work 3 minutes from home and could never commute into the city every day. Chat Icon

I did it for 7yrs and now just recently moved to queens

Commuting from Suffolk was all I knew - I didn't know how much better it can be from Queens - LOL

Now the tricky part is one day going back to Suffolk to buy a house and doing the commute all over againChat Icon

We used to commute from Mineola and that was a dream compared to Bethpage. I can't imagine what it would be like from Suffolk.

I cannot believe you all commute from Suffolk. I took the train from Jamaica to Glen Cove and it took 1.5 hours. Chat Icon

Re: Commuting to the city from Suffolk

I really think it depends on the line. When we lived on the South Shore and my husband took the train from 5 towns, that was just about the same as from Huntington. I think the key is to be near a 'hub". Alot of friends from Commack, Smithtown, Northport and Kings PArk, go out of Huntington, because its just about an hour into Penn.
