Completely aggravating..preggo and parenting vent
Melania puts herself to sleep at nite..i give her the last bottle at 7:15pm and after shes done with it, she usually either passes out in my arms on the way to her room, or i lay her down awake and she goes to sleep on her own..great..this JUST started happening about a month ago,,before that i would have to hold her in my lap until she fell asleep THEN put her in.. For naps, she is so used to her napping times, that i literally pick her up after she eats breakfast (9am-9:15am) i rock her for about 5 PROBABLY LESS minutes, and shes out like a light for an hour and a half to two hours..her afternoon nap for some reason, she must be so tired by then, she lets me just lay her in her crib awake, and pat her butt for a few minutes, and puts herself to sleep from like 330-5, 5:30.. the morning nap drives me INSANE at least 3 times a week..she fights it, and im holding her and rocking her, and mind you, im getting HUGE and shes getting uncomfortable laying on my big pregnant belly.. is kicking me like crazy probably cause shes making him so uncomfortable in there..and she just WONT GO TO SLEEP..shes wide awake, looking around, squirming, talking, crying, kicking me, slapping my face with her hands..and forget it, IF I SIT DOWN FOR EVEN A SECOND, i have to start all over again..cause she feels me sit down.. its so crazy to me, usually its SOOO easy, but on days like today, i wanna cry..my collar bone is STILL seperated from my car accident when i was pregnant with her, and since i got pregnant again so soon, i couldnt have surgery to fix it,,so when its damp (today) im in ALOT of pain, and then holding her squirming around like that kills me..i cant take anything of course cause im pregnant, blah blah blah blah blah.. And now of course, since its gonna take an extra 45 minutes for her to fall asleep, im gonna be stuck in the house till 12! SO FREAKIN FRUSTRATED.. if you got this far. thanks..

aww Jaime
If she can put herself to sleep other times, it sounds like she's a good "candidate" for CIO. Have you thought about that?

oh Lb, i am Allll about CIO..i did it with ds, i did it with her at 6 months, it worked in one nite..i had to re-do it around 8 months..again one nite.. shes in her crib right now..awake.. youd think shed be CRYING IT OUT..but no, shes freakin playing!!!!!!!!!! At this age, i know she knows EXACTLY how to manipulate me into going back in there, so usually, i let her get a good cry in for about 4 or 5 minutes, i go in without picking her up, and just roll her over on her side, and pat her tushie..and it works., perfect.. TODAY?!?!! SHES NOT EVEN CRYING YET..so i cant do CIO lol
but i KNOW she needs this nap.. and i NEED HER TO TAKE IT LOL
OK, i guess i cant complain, i went in there, she threw her binky and blankie on the floor..i gave them back to her, layed her down, and shes sleeping loll
Im just so cranky lately..SORRY

Ohhhh I have been there! DS has pulled this with me too. If he isn't crying and isn't asleep I take him out and try again later. Will she sleep in the car?
ETA: um, Jaime, I hate to say this... but it seems like maybe she is ready for a later nap... possibly just one!
Okay, don't hit me please

Re: Completely aggravating..preggo and parenting vent
My DD does this a lot - i put her down for a nap and I hear her up there playing, sometimes for as long as 45 min-1hr. I just leave her. She eventually falls asleep.

I was gonna say this (but I don't have a toddler so I don't really know)
Is it okay to just let them play and if they fall asleep good, if not, hopefully they chilled out? I have no idea

Samantha does this too.
In fact, yesterday afternoon, she woke up from her nap as I was laying down to take one myself, and I left her in her crib to play while I snoozed for 45 minutes! Yeah, I suck!
She tends to do this at her morning nap too. She's like your DD, she's up around 7ish (sometimes a little earlier, but we have a no go in and get her until 7am rule if she's not crying). By 8:30/9:00 she is SO ready for a nap. I'll put her down, she's all drowsy and wanting to sleep, next thing I know she's crawling around and playing in her crib. Like Lauren... I just leave her as long as she's happy.

Re: Completely aggravating..preggo and parenting vent
How old is she? my DD dropped her second nap at 11mths. I know you NEED her to take two naps and your other chld took two naps but every child is diffrent and maybe she doesnt really need that nap if she is fighting it so much.
I know ...not what you want to hear and I know its hard being pregnant when you have another child but ...it may just be the end of the road for her and her morning nap.
Whatever happens hope you get some rest soon and try to take one day at a time

thank you!! and thank you everyone!!
Im sane again.. she really does, and will continue to need 2 naps..shes exhausted.. i dont really have to force it, sometimes she just likes to be slightly difficult.. i know some of you ladies have dc's that "drop" a nap by a year.. for me, its just not something i agree with really..i think they do STILL need the sleep..not just for my sake but she is OBVIOUSLY falling over herself by 9am..shed never make it till 3 that way..
thanks again everyone!! Im off the ledge!!
