Completely freaked out DH this morning...
Let me start by saying that my due date is this Wednesday....
So I actually needed to leave the house for work today (I have been working from home for the past couple of months)
DH was going to work from home today so he was going to drop DS off at daycare for me.
We left the house at the same time and I pulled away as he was getting DS into the carseat. Normally I wouldn't drive in the same direction as DH would be going towards daycare, but I wanted to stop by the post office and drop off my Christmas cards.
After I lef the post office, I was sitting at a light and a fire truck came screaming up behind us, lights on, sirens blaring. I was at a place where I was in the right turn lane and there were cars in the left lane to make a left. The 2 cars in the left lane decided to turn right on red to get out of the way of the fire truck and the second car ended up hitting the car sitting in front of me as she turned right. I basically saw the car in front of me move as the other woman hit her front quarter panel.
The light turned green and I made a right, then felt guilty because I witnessed the accident. I parked my car and went over to give the woman who was hit my name and # in case she needed a witness.
When I went to get back in my car, I saw DH parked a little bit ahead of me. He must have seen me out of my car talking to the woman in her car and thought I was in an accident!
Needless to say, I ran up to his car and told him that it was just a case of his nosey wife trying to do a good deed and give my information since I witnessed the accident... I was not the one in it!!
Poor DH, between this and waking him up to work on my charlie horses, he is thinking I am constantly going into labor!

Yeah, I have a habit of always getting involved, so it all made sense when I explained it to him.
Then he proceeded to yell at me for running from my car to his car!
And apparently the woman who hit the girl I talked to was trying to justify what she did by saying she had to get out of the way of the fire truck. Um, last I checked, just because an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you it doesn't give you the right to get into an accident.

i can picture you getting yelled at for running! my DH would do the same thing..
and yea, as for the girl that hit the woman.. that is a lame excuse.
it was really nice of you to give your name and # to that lady! i am sure she appreciates it!

Yeah, I always stop to give my information when I witness an accident. I would want someone else to do the same if the situation were reversed.
As for the girl, I think she thought I was crazy at first. I walked up to her driver's side window as she sat in her car with the window rolled up and she wouldn't roll her window down! Maybe she thought I was with the woman who hit her. But it took her a minute to roll her window down for me!

Yeah, I make a really scary looking 9 month pregnant woman dressed to go to work!!!!
I think she appreciated giving her my information. But I'm not sure it will help because I don't think they were going to call the police (which I think is a mistake)... even though the accident was not her fault at all, she said she was worried about her insurance going up. People seem to think that if you call the police you have to file a claim through your insurance and I don't think that's true. It's just good to have the police report in case you want to take them to court for repair costs. Go figure!
