Computer people - HELP

I am trying to back up some of my dd's pictures to a rewritable DVD. I use Nero for this

I have done this process numerous times in the past with no problem

But I just tried to burn a data dvd, it goes through the process, says it was burned successfully but then nothing is on the DVD when I try to open it from My computer

It says "free space 0 bytes, used space, 0 bytes"

WTH?

Re: Computer people - HELP

did you check the box to finalize the disc

on a side note, with blank dvd's being so cheap, i don't recommend using RW as you have to format the disc and wait..etc.. RW speeds are slower then regular write speeds

I do not see this as an option and I have never "finazlized" the discs in the past

I open up nero, select "create data dvd", hit add and pick the folders that I want to copy. Then I hit burn, it does it's thing, tells me that it was burned successfully and then I save the project. In the past, after this process was complete, the dvd slot would open and I would take the disc out, voila, no problem

The disc slot has not been opening. I am not sure if the dvd's are bad or what but this is frustrasting

Is there another way to backup pics?

Thanks

Re: Computer people - HELP

I assume you have nero 7?

sorry about the finalize comment...nero is backwards from what i said, if you want to leave the session open, then you would check a box...

before clicking the box to burn, there should be a button on the left that opens some options...make sure it say write (check of) and simulation is not checked....

i back up just the same way your talking about + i have a external hard drive...
i just don't use RW disc, i just use DVD-+R disc... RW you can keep using for some time...
