Computer problems
I am so bummed. i went to bed Satuday night and my computer was fine. I wake up Sunday morning and my "profile" wasn't working. I have a Dell so I can create separate accounts for different users, I have 2 accounts set up, one for me and one for dad. Well on my profile I can not access Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer, the control panal but I can get to Word, Excell, Adobe. My dad's side seems OK.
The problem: I can not access my pictures and all my school files to save them to a CD! I am so sad about the pictures and fuming about my school work.
A few people have offered help and advice, please keep your fingers crossed that I can recove all my important things.

Sounds like there is a problem with your windows profile. If you have any questions let us know. I am sure someone here could answer it.

Thank you. Now that you mention it, has anyone seen this problem before?
Also, is it true if I go to delete that user account will I be asked if I want to save all the files from that account?

Re: Computer problems
I have had that problem where the Windows Explorer is working for my Admin account, but not my user account. I fixed it by matching the settings under Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Advanced from the Admin account to my user account. I wonder if that would help you out.

Re: Computer problems
I just read your first post. You can't access Control Panel from your user account? Hmm.

I am not sure if it will ask you for you to save the files. As long as you don't have the files hidden you should be able to see them from the other account. Go to explorer. C then documents and settings. Then the user id. Then my documents.

If it were me, I wouldn't delete my user account just yet.
Are you getting access denied when you are trying to delete your user account? If so, your user account may not be an Admin account, and it might be that you can only delete the user account when logged in as the Admin. Is that possible?

Both my user accounts are access denied. So when I am on the uncorrupted one I get access denied.
I am going to create a new account later put some fake documents then see what happens when I go to delete it.

Re: Computer problems
I see. When you are on the uncorrupted account and try to access files in your other account, it says access denied. OK. So your corrupted account IS an Admin account and in the corrupted account, these files aren't placed as Shared Files. It seems to be working normally on this front, IMO.
Good luck, later. I'm surprised that you can't access the Control Panel from the corrupted account.
