Confused by a conversation with a RE Agent

I had a RE Agent call me about my co-op. It is still listed on MLSLI (I had to pay $$ so it stays up until the money is in my hand). I called the agent that I listed it through to tell him that it is in contract and since it was FSBO with no other RE Agent he said that we can just leave it as is and pull it once all is said and done.

Anyway...Monday night I get a call from a RE Agent that wants to show the place. I thanked her for the call but told her the the co-op is now under contract. She was so nasty to me Chat Icon She questioned why I still had it listed and why I didn't have it noted that it was under contract Chat Icon

The agent that listed it for me told me that the agent that yelled at me was clearly wrong and not to feel bad - but I do. I have the listing up because I had to pay for it - if I take it down and something goes wrong with the sale I have to pay more money to put it back up. When people call I tell them right away that it's in contract so why get so mad at me?

as someone on the other side of the fence, it is irritating when houses are on MLS after they are in contract...but you ahve a point, you paid for the listing, you might as well keep it up there!

I think the R/E agent snapped at you out of frustration more than anything else. I wouldnt worry about it!

I have to agree, it probably was more their frustration and not their anger.

Maybe you can keep a list of the names and phone number's of the people who call in case knock on wood the contract doesn't actualize.

First of all, it is NONE of her business why you still have it up there. Furthermore, MLSLI does not have an "under contract" feature. and lastly, MOST homes stay up there until the closing.

I'm sorry you had to deal with such a nasty person. Chat Icon

Re: Confused by a conversation with a RE Agent

MLSLI could have a "under contract" feature... but houses fall out of contract all the time! and a lot of people still show their houses even if it is under contract... that RE agent needs to calm down... dont feel bad!!

Re: Confused by a conversation with a RE Agent

the realtor side of MLS DOES have an "under contract" feature, so maybe thats why she was expecting it.

Re: Confused by a conversation with a RE Agent

the house i bought was listed on mls till the day we closed on it and it made me nervouse that it was still up there even though we were in contract but it seems that they do that with alot of houses.
