Consignment Shops
How do you like them? What have you bought there? Have you ever sold anything? I've been to Once Upon a Child in Sayville, and another store in Lindenhurst. Do you think theyre okay for a jogging stroller? I would probably only buy clothes with tags on them also. Any experience?

Re: Consignment Shops
I just went to Once Apon a Child in Sayville about two weeks ago. Yes, it was nice getting rid of stuff but I know I could have gotten a lot more if I had waited till garage sale season and sold it myself.
Personally, I will never sell to them again unless I'm in a real bind or something. I find I get a LOT more money from craigslist. For instance, I sold my DS's walker on craigslist for $15. I think Once Apon a Child would have only given me $5. And for clothes, baby stuff especially, its not worth.
This is all JMO. I know several moms sell to them. Just my experience, there are better ways out there to sell.
As far as buying, I also didn't find there prices unbeatable. I mean, for instance, boys Carter's used overalls, $7!!! I could have gotten a new pair at the outlet with coupons for that price.
Not too mention they were selling used playyards for $60-$80. OMG!!!

Re: Consignment Shops
I have never sold anything but I have gone to Once Upon a Child in Sayville as well. I was able to get a no longer made toy for DS for next to nothing. I also got a gated octogon for a good price. My only advice is to know what things are going for when you are looking for something in particular. There are deals to be had, but there are also an equal amount of rip offs. Toys and books seem to be a great deal. I too looked there for a jogging stroller and the cheapest they had was $50 and it was completely run down. The nicer ones was not much less than buying new. Needless to say, I still don't have a jogger.
