Constipation-Older babies/toddlers
Well we are still not sleeping over here. I think i might have pegged our issue-Constipation! She pooped 4 times yesterday all hard as rocks and very formed and then slept 11 hours. I think the poor baby is waking up in pain :(
What do you do to keep older babies and toddler flow going and keep it soft and easily passable consistently when they eat solids?
Right now DD gets 4 six ounce bottles, and 3 meals a day, baby food at lunch and whatever we eat at dinner.
Any advice?

Feed her pears at her feedings. That may help. Also, maybe mix some prunces with her other fruits/veggies or cereal.

Try to limit bananas if she has that. Also give pears and prunes mixed into other food. Apple and pear juice helps too.

Gerber sells pureed prunes which may help keep things moving as well.
I add Benefiber to my daughter's water, but she is nearly 2 -- I'd check with a doctor before doing that.

Re: Constipation-Older babies/toddlers
DS gets oatmeal everymorning for breakfest with a fruit and the fruit either is apples, pears or peaches. Also cheerios. I needed to cut back on the cheerios because he pooped 8 times one day and I had no idea why and I new he wasn't sick because it was normal poop. Maybe try giving her more water too.

Aly gets pears at every breakfast and sometimes plums too or grapes. Grapes seem to be working well also (cut into 1/4 pieces).
WATER!!! She gets a milk sippy after breakfast and before bed, that's it. Lunch and afternoon snack she gets water
Veggies too...green beans seem to work here as do peas. I also give her veggies and both lunch and dinner most days.
And from what I understand, the body digests fruit & veggies pretty quickly....DH said in about 15 min so maybe that's why we usually get divebombed in the bathtub at night!

Re: Constipation-Older babies/toddlers
I give my DS pear juice mixed with water once a day. (1oz pear juice to 7oz of water) If he is going pretty well, I just give him one 8oz cup of water a day. I always try to give him water OR pear juice w/water once a day.

mine are only 5 months, but they have bathroom problems. I give them prunes or prune juice. They usually go within a couple of hours. Good luck.

You also might want to water down her milk bottles a little especially in the afternoon or eveing. My DD at times has this too and I usually find that she has this after she has eaten or drank too much dairy.
Hope she feels better soon.

I always regulate with water since she was a few days old. Add a few oz of water inbetween feedings, it should help.

Re: Constipation-Older babies/toddlers
I went through a HORRIBLE experience w/ Ds between the age of 1 1/2 and 2. I was on the phone w/ the Doc almost every day. I had to monitor when he had movements. When we were lucky enough to go - it was awful- hard as anyhting & like baseballs. Sorry for TMI - Anyway- water - pears and SENAKOT!!! Senakot was a life saver - it regulated him! He is now 6 and we still have to watch his cheese and rice intake. However - he LUVs water & he is much better
