Converting 8mm to dvd? Can anyone help me??

We are cleaning out my grandmothers apartment. My mom found all of these 8mm reels of film. I guess thats what it is. I want to get them transferred to dvd. Does anyone know someone reputable who does this.

They are VERY old. Some from the 1930's. I am so afraid of them cracking or breaking. But I think if I could have this done, it would be THE perfect christmas gift. Everyone who has passed in her life, including my grandmother, are on these rolls of film. She made a comment like..OMG..I could see my family in real life again if I could view these.

I found some sites online but I would never send these in the mail. Can anyone point me in the right direction??

My father has a ton, and I would love to get them put on DVD. My cousin was checking out places, but she said it was very expensive. I also, don't really want to send them in the mail. My father would be so upset if anything happened to them.
