Re: converting home movies from VHS to DVD
You can get a combined VHS/DVD-R at any electronics store like BestBuy, Circuit City, etc. if you want to spend about $200 and have the ability to play both DVDs and VHS afterwards. Not sure what other types of "devices" are out there though. Some video stores will do it for you, for a fee... I heard something once about Costco offering VHS to DVD conversion, but I never checked it out to see if it was true.

I bring them to a place to do it. I am afraid to do it myself.

If you have a VCR and a DVD recorder, you can do it yourself at home. That's what I do. Output from VHS goes to the input of the DVD-R, and voila, a "converter device"....

We've done it a home.
We have a dvd recorder. Actually, we've had 2 now. They are readily available at Best Buy.
