UPDATE:
They "claim" to have found my friends dog. She told her that she was coming to pick up her dog but she got a box of ashes when she got there. Whether or not it really is her beloved nobody will ever know. Im just glad that she feels better because she believes that it's hers.

I think a call to a local news station would be more than appropriate at this point...
I was thinking the exact same thing. I would also sue the pants off of them.
