Does anyone know if corn is bad for dogs?

Re: Corn

It is not bad for them per se, but it can be difficult for them to digest.

Re: Corn

Never give them the cob to chew on...my neighbors dog died choking on it. Please if you want to give it, dont give them the whole cob.

Right. But if it is ground into meal then it is used as a filler in some dog foods, which is why I can't really say it is toxic, but it is not pleasant.

And as a PP said never give them the cob!

Re: Corn

Corn is not toxic for dogs but the Cobb is.
But... corn is an allergin and has no nutritional value. Corn fillers in petfood are not really an ingredient you would want to see.
If you are thinking of feeding your pet corn as a treat I wouldn't.
An apple or carrot is a better choice.

i also read that apples are ok for dogs, but apple seeds are toxic. So dont give the whole apple to the dog, just cut off peices.

Re: Corn

Thanks ladies!

I heard carrots are great. I boil them for my dog when I make him chicken. I've never given him a baby carrot, I'm afraid.
