Corn stalks!?!
Did you girls remove the corn from the stalks or did they not have corn on them to begin with???
I bought a couple of corn stalks and I left the corn on it. I liked the way it looked and I figured the birds would love it, but I forgot about the squirrels.  The darn vermin have destroyed my stalks and the mums I have below them!!!!!
Just curious as to how you girls kept the squirrels at bay???

At first I left the corn on. Then after coming home finding a family of squirrels on my porch we cut them off. They were making a HUGE mess!!!

Yep, same here.
We had it look so cute w/ the corn stalks, the mums and stacks of hay.
It was good for a week then after the first rain came, the squirrels, birds and chipmunks went nuts. At one point, DH and I were looking out the window watching a squirrel drag the corn to the other side of the lawn.
You'd think with the dye on the corn, they wouldn't touch it....but NO, not the case.
They made such a mess out of it. Between all the animals........we didnt bother replacing it.
Even my pumpkins.........have been eaten inside out! I did hear to spray them w/ hairspray or a Shalack (sp?) and they wont touch it. We'll try that next year I guess.........

spray the corn cobs with hair spray.
I had to do that to my pumpkins a few years ago....they never ate them again!!
or you can just shoot them!!
