Correct me if I'm wrong...
I was watching something on HGTV where they were replacing the countertop in the bathroom. They said the coutertop *looked* exactly like granite but it wasn't. It actually was a fraction of the price. That sounds like something in my budget.
Does anyone know what this is and where I can get it?
TIA!

I forget the name of it, but I know posters have talked about it here.
Not much help - Just wanted you to know that it does exist and is supposedly much cheaper than granite.

Did you check on hgtv's site? If you look up the episode, you can find usually all the info you are looking for.
Also, if you are redoing the bath (and you don't need exact measurements) go to any granite place or a place like Weissman's. You'd be surprised at the remnants you can get for almost nothing!

Could have been recycled glass? I just saw a show on this, and it really does look like granite.

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong...
All I know is that they said it's not granite.
I have a bad memory...that's all I remember.

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong...
Probably some form of Formica as Silestone tends to be about the same price as Granite.

I watched an episode of something this weekend and they used concrete in the kitchen and bath.
ETA: Another quartz brand is Cambria. It's not much cheaper than granite though.

Was this yesterday? I saw it on "Flip This House". It was actually concrete with whatever color you want sprayed onto it. It had rough edges, right? It looked great!!

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong...
Lowes has a line of cultured marble that looks like it is a granite counter with an undermount sink. It isn't on their website but it's in the store. It's about 1/3 of the price of granite. It's also alot less work and worry about ruining it.

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong...
I am pretty sure it is high definition formica (not sure of the spelling) One of my friends has it in their kitchen and it looks exactly like granite.

My husband said probably this: Corian or this: Zodiaq .
He works for an architect.
Both of these products essentially cost just as much as Granite.

Re: Correct me if I'm wrong...
If its the the episode i think it is, its concrete that is finished with this faux granite coating you paint on. It looks very much like granite, but a fraction of the costs. All of the quartz and corian are the same costs as granite, and I don't think they look very much like granite.
