Cost of closing in breezeway in a cape
I have a Levitt cape with a breezeway between the house & the garage. we are looking to close in the breezeway thus expanding the kitchen. We have 3 kids now & we can't all sit in the kitchen to eat. So far we have gotten estimates for $12,500 (which I thought was high) & yesterday $26,800!?!?! We're not adding any cabinets or anything. It's the walls (with one exterior door) and one window (not a bay)and a closet cut into the garage for the washer/dryer, which means some plumbing work to get the water across the breezeway. The floor has to be pinned or something and moving the electrical panel that is in the kitchen to the garage. Mind you these 2 estimates were given by guys who didn't even have an electrician come by & one guy didn't even have a tape measure with him. I'm thinking they just didn't want to waste time on such a small job. Thoughts?
