Cost of inground pool?

We've narrowed down making offers on 2 houses. One has beautiful inground pool and the other doesn't but has space for one. I always said if it doesn't come with one, I won't install, but now wondering how much will it be to install a basic inground pool? Just looking for general idea

I would say around $15K and up. Something else to consider is that your taxes will go up too so it not just the cost of the pool.

If you happen to purchase a house with the pool already try to find out how old the liner is, if it is a liner pool. Liners generally last 15 years, if it oval or kidney we were told 10 years and is when we needed to change our liner. Liners aren't cheap either.

We have a large L shaped inground pool. We are replacing the liner this month. The total cost is $2900. We also are replacing the coping which will be about $500. In the fall we are going to buy a new cover I want to get a loop loc. I am scared to find out the pricing on that.

The pool wasn't in the best condition when we bought the house but we are hoping if we properly maintain it and take care of everything the way it should be we won't have to worry about these expenses for another 20 years. The previouses owners didn;t cover the pool, let the cover that they didn't use anyway sit out next to the pool all summer long etc.

I got one quote for 60 K. this was with some patio bricking etc.

but it was still way more than I thought.

I'll be calling other people to price this out as well.

NOT paying that much.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Cost of inground pool?

Depends if it's a liner pool or a masonary pool.

First one around $15-$20K depending on size, pump, entrance options, etc...

Second one... A LOT!!!!!

Re: Cost of inground pool?

The pool is usually the least of it. You can do a good size pool, permits, electrical and all for 20-25K. The real money is the hardscape/landscape costs. Its hard to get away much less than 45-50K.

If you really want the pool, buy the house that already has one installed, even if it needs some work it will be way cheaper.

I put a pool in two years ago... I didnt pay anywhere near that. Pictures are in my album.

$15k to install it.

The following year...
$2,500 sod to repair the yard that was destroyed by all the machines/equipment.
$5,200 brick work.

It's expensive.

Might want to choose the house with the pool.
Definately find out how old the pool is. When/who installed it ? Is it still under warranty ?

We have been getting quotes betweem 25-35k for a 20 by 40 liner pool. This would include heater, salt water and some other bells and whistles.
