Cost of injectibles
Hello,
Now that I know that my prescription plan does not cover anything fertility related, can anyone give me an idea of how much the injectibles run?
I have been on clomid (which was not covered) and my dr. said the next step will be injectibles.
Thanks

Re: Cost of injectibles
Thanksfully my ins covers mine, but due to a misunderstanding a while back, I know the ganerilix was $91 a syringe and he HCG is $40. Both of these were from local tpharmacies, and they might be cheaper online
Maybe you can get some donations of unused drugs

Re: Cost of injectibles
The firs time I was going to try IVF, I got a print out of what all the meds would cost me. It totalled $8,000. I was going to be on high doses of everything but still...that's a lot of $.
I started to beg on here, and other web sites. I can never repay the generous ladies on here who dontaed their unused meds to me -- they are wonderful women and I am so thankful.
If this IVF works I will be passing on whatever I have left. But I won't know until mid-September.
There are a few web sites you can try as well:

My RE projects the cost for stims during an average IVF cycle at $4,000.

Re: Cost of injectibles
If you are doing injectibles for an IUI cycle, it won't be nearly as much as IVF.
It also really depends on how well you stimulate.

Re: Cost of injectibles
Hi, my insurance doesnt cover injectables either.
If you join www.designrx.net you will get a discount on certain medications. I pay $800 for two cases of Follistim.
The Ovidrel is $100 and the Ganirelex is $115. What my doctor did was give me a couple of refills on each drug so I wouldnt get one big bill.
Good Luck!!

For my IUIS I was on Bravelle, Ganirelex and Ovidrel...It was about between $3700-$4200 each month.

Re: Cost of injectibles
Thanks everyone for the replies. I still don't know exactly what I will need. My problem is that I do not ovulate on my own. I have 2 more months on clomid left (Clomid worked for me with my daughter, but for some reason, I'm having trouble the second time around. I miscarried in January).
My dr. said the next step is to refer me to a fertility specialist and "get a shot". Not sure if he meant in conjunction with IUI. Can you just get the trigger shot for ovulation and conceive naturally?
