cost of installing new windows? (or DIYers?)

I'm new to LIF, though I frequent LIW (wedding is in August!)

My fiance and I are purchasing a home in Lynbrook, and we'd like to replace all of the windows. Not counting the basement, I believe we have 12 windows total to replace.

Can anyone tell me what a reasonable quote is for installation if we were to purchase the windows ourselves? We are seriously considering installing them ourselves, but wanted to keep our options open.

Also, if you've done this yourself, please let me know how bad it was!

im having my windows done in a few weeks. I have 13 windows and 4 basments all double hung and a picture window- they are also hanging my doors, new gutters, replacing wood shingles and a few other small things- its costing 8000.00

eta- that is the cost of the windows and installation.

yes it includes everything I mentioned above. Of course the windows are the majority of it.

I have about 12 windows and a sliding glass door and we are paying $5000 including instilation. All double hung with Low E, our front window was about $1000 and our sliding glass door was around the same.

I think we paid about $3800 for 13 replacement windows (double hung) and 4 basement windows w/out instillation.
