Cost of IUI

I'm getting ahead of myself but if I had to go down this path I was just wondering what the cost would be assoicated with a IUI. I have pretty great benefits (NYC); i'm further assuming this has much to do with your insurance carrier? Just talking out loud.

Thus far, I have had no payments with the exception of co-pays for the HSG and Rx. Call your insurance carrier first and get all the details. My insurance carrier said that if I wanted 100% covered, I had to go to one of their "centers of excellence", which I did. If I had a different preference, the coverage would have to be worked out.

When I went to the RE (who was also recommended by my OB), his office is fantastic. I gave them the entire lecture I got from my insurance carrier but they clearly knew all of that beforehand. They took care of everything.

Not sure how the city plans compare to the island ones plans but DH's insurance covers up to the first $50k of IVF and all of IUI.

Not sure what plan you have but I have Empire Government through Nassau County and they cover everything...and 75,000 for IVF...but IUI are fully covered and no copays for any doctors until I'm pregnant...call your insurance company they will give all the info to you good luck.

Re: Cost of IUI

Do you have GHI? I work for NYC and have GHI. This is what they sent me regarding my infertility coverage:

Your infertility coverage consists of:

? Unlimited intrauterine inseminations (AKA IUI, inseminations), no pre-certification
is required.
? (3) IVF cycles per lifetime, pre-certification is required. Member is responsible
for a 25% coinsurance.

Please note:
Under any GHI plan: Infertility treatment or IVF coverage applies for women age 21-44
years of age. Women are no longer eligible once they hit their 45th birthday.

Yes, this was very helpful..thank you! I have GHI thru NYC FDNY; I'm sure it is the same. Seems like they cover a decent amount

This is what I have .. though I didn't know about the age thing. That doesn't impact me though.

I pay a $15 copay for each of my IUIs.

Out of pocket it's $450, I believe.

ETA: If you do back to back, it will be $900 total that cycle.
