Cost of utilities...
How much do you pay for gas heat/hot water, electric, and water in a single family home for 1-2 adults in Nassau County? Thanks

Each house is going to be different, we average about $200-300 per month (during winter gas is more and electric is less and vice versa in the summer). Water is about $100 per year for us.

Re: Cost of utilities...
Thank you... This would be for a 4 room apartment in a house. Bedroom, small living area, kitchen, and bathroom. One TV. No computer. Small fridge and micro...

I mean it really depends on the efficiency of everything and the efficiency of the electric in the house, any drafts, etc. honestly we pay the same now for our 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, basement house (with 3 TVs, 2 fridges, etc) for electric as we did in our 1 bedroom apt.

Re: Cost of utilities...
But that sounds about average to me... I just had a "friend" try and tell me that it was $600 for the month. Not including cable..
I live in a huge house now and we don't pay that much with 5 people living here and multiple computers, large fridge, big micro, all electric appliances...

Re: Cost of utilities...
I live right on the border of N/S.
I'm on balanced billing, but on average pay $265 a month for gas and electric.
The water bill is due quarterly and varies with the season. In the cooler months when we don't use our sprinklers it's probably about $30.00. In the summer, maybe a little over $100.00?
With balanced billing though I usually get a higher bill at the end of the year. It just happens to be due on 2/1 and with my regular payment plus the overage it's $563.00.
I believe if you opt out of doing balanced billing, your utilities can be a lot higher during the month since you are paying for actual usage.
We are also out of the house on average 10-12 hours a day during the week, and I always make sure my heat is turned down really low and all the major electric is turned off.

i have a ranch with three bedrooms - balance billing for heat is around $150-$175 (gas), electric is around $175-200. Find balance easier but the first year our bill was as low as $90 for gas/electric all the way up to $300 per month. It's good to not do balance for a year to see what your using per month and then adjust if need be.
Two adults - we keep the heat on 65-67 and have a fireplace. In the summer we have two air units in the window to keep the house cool.
