cost to remove a load bearing wall?
Does anyone know the cost to remove a load bearing wall? I would be willing to use columns or something similar if it cuts down the cost. TIA

you would probably need to put in a steel beam, i'm not sure if columns would be enough. Those steel beams I think are $2k and up-then labor.

you will either need a composite beam or a steel beam mattering on code plus you may also need to add a column in the basement - definetly something that needs a structural engineer involved - at least $4000 I would estimate

My parents and my step brother both just did this. They added a steel beam. They had it delivered and put it into place on their own. Under 2k. They are good at that stuff though.

They blew out a wall in our house (cape) and it is supported with a beam across AND two permanent steel posts in the basement. I would think about $5kish is a safe guesstimate, give or take a grand
I agree with snowprincess, starting with a structural engineer would be my first call.
