Re: Costco cake for christening
Costo has really good cakes.
I used to work at a catering place and my favorite cakes were from Costco, BJs, Stop and Shop or Shoprite.

I think the cakes from Costo & BJ's are very good. DD's last 2 birthday cakes were from BJ's & everyone loved them.

Re: Costco cake for christening
I've done both and never had a problem with Costco cakes. They always taste fresh to me, cake never dry and their filling tastes great. The only thing I would check out are their designs for christening/baptism cakes just so you know how they look.
I had an issue one time from a bakery. You would think spending $$$ you would get a fresh tasting cake. I never should have told them about my cake two weeks in advance because it tasted as if they made my cake two weeks in advance. So got my money back from them. They did do a beautiful design of it that went with my theme. It was unfortunate because so many people told me how dry it was.

Thank you ladies!!! I do love their cakes, just concerned about the design. Would like some sort of cross if possible. If not, I'd rather get it there for more than half the price and screw the design!!!!

Someone on this site had a thread about how their DH ordered the Christening cake for their DD from Costco and he ended up getting a fairy princess as the design! Every time that thread gets bumped it makes me laugh!!! (sorry I don't remember who it is)
I am not sure what kind of designs they have, but their cakes are great and so worth getting. Honestly, IMO, the cake gets eaten so for me the design is not that important!
ETA: OK I found it. It was Porrruss and here is the thread! Why you shouldn't let DH be in charge of getting the cake...

They do have a christening design option, and I love their cakes! Just had one for DS's bday last week.

Same here -- turned out great both times.
Funny story to add, though. My cousin used a Costco sheet cake for her rehearsal dinner upstate. Her FH ordered it with the colors of the wedding (teal and black, I think) and he wrote 'N/A' in the section for what the cake should have inscribed in it.
On the way to the rehearsal dinner, my cousin looked at the cake (mind you, this is a 4+ hour drive north of the nearest Costco) and she sees that the cake actually has the letters 'N' and 'A' written across the middle!! They had to use pies for the dessert at the rehearsal dinner instead of that cake.
Now THAT's my favorite Costco cake story!!
