couch to 5K???
Who has done it? Does it work? Did you lose weight also?
I can hardly run for a minute... will I be able to run a 5K in October?
How many miles is a 5K?

Re: couch to 5K???
Hi. a 5K is 3.1 miles.
When I 1st started I couldnt run more than 30 seconds at a time. Id be winded and just want to stop. I did not do couch to 5K but Ive heard great things.
I started out on a treadmill. I would run for a minute, walk for like 2-3 minutes then run 2 minutes and walk until I was able to run again.
Endurance builds quickly, you'll surprise yourself! You have plenty of time to train for a 5K.
My best advice is run slow! The faster you go you'll want to stop quicker. Im a turtle but as you'll see in my recent post Ive just completed 7 miles (Im training for a half marathon)
Good luck and have fun!

Re: couch to 5K???
I did the Couch to 5K program. I made it to week 5 and then I hurt my knee. I really was surprised that I went from barely being able to run the 60 seconds to running for 8 mins straight in week 5. I lost weight but I was also doing WW and going to the gym so it was a combination.

Re: couch to 5K???
Does anyone know how quickly they want you to be able to run a 5k? I can do a 5k in about 40-45 minutes but it is sooo slow, I feel like I am walking mostly. Does couch to 5k help you run it within a certain amount of time? Or just to complete 3.1 miles at one time?

Re: couch to 5K???
Couch to 5k changed my life! I could barely run the 60 seconds at first and 9 weeks later I was running for 30 minutes without stopping! A year and a half later I ran the NYC Marathon! I started this program to lose 20 pounds, and along with a normal diet program it came off in 6 months. I can't rave about it enough...just try it and remember that everyone is different. You might have to repeat a week and that's totally fine, just stick with it!

It's a 9 week program. So at the end of the 9 weeks they state you should be able to run a 5K or run for 30 mins straight.

Thank you. So essentially the goal is probably a 5k in 30 minutes which is my goals (about 10 min per mile on average). I should check this program out.

Re: couch to 5K???
Me! But I tweaked it to be an 11 week program. I was running up until I was pregnant. Need to get motivated to get started again.
I really was so proud that it made me a runner and boosted my confidence in myself. I am a big advocate of it.

Re: couch to 5K???
Just like IAMMRSBROWN, I did not do C25K but I hear great things about it. I went from not being able to run more than probably 1/4 mile without stopping to being able to complete a 5K in about 3-4 wks. I was amazed at how quickly I was able to build up. I was always one that said I could never EVER do a 5k and now I am training for a half marathon (13.1 miles). Just pick a program that works for you and go for it. You will surprise yourself I'm sure!
