could my waist be 33 inches??

i'm 5'3 and my size 4's are just fitting... i need to get measured for a bridesmaid dress for July. Last nite my mother measured 36" that just seems off to me but i guess after dinner and an entire day of eating drinking. i measured myself now and i get 33". The shop was telling me that would be a size 18 now??? i'm totally confused

I am not sure what size you would be but all I know is you are better off getting bigger then smaller. I was just in a wedding and I was measured before I was pregnat and the dress barely fit me. It was SO tight!!! I was so uncomfortable and was nervous all night the zipper was going to break. Since you really have no way of telling what size you will be in july I would go bigger and take it in!

Not sure but I agree with the last person, get it bigger! They can always take away but it's nearly impossible to add!

they said a current size 34 inch waist is a size 18 - geez so what the heck size am i going to need for 4 months from now

if you're usually a size 4 i'm thinking your non-pregnant waist is like 28 inches or so? 5 inches seems like a big increase to me... but hey, maybe it's true and this is your preggo waist kicking in! especially since you've been blessed in the m/s department and are able to eat and drink. i am down several pound from my m/s, but i still have a little buddha belly, from bloating and/or preggo, so it could just be your waistline expanding!

i would go with the bigger size because you'll be much bigger in july. they can always take in the dress

A 4 & an 18 are VERY different sizes. I would go & try on some dresses now to figure out your true size & then order a few sizes bigger to allow for some belly room.

That doesn't sound right to me...

I wore a size 8 prior to getting pregnant. I was in a wedding when I was 7 and a half months pg, and i ordered a size 16 (non maternity) and had to have it taken in everywhere but the belly. I wouldn't order an 18, it'll be swallowing you! I would say if you are typically a 4, order a 12.

For your height & situation would see if they come in petites. Even if you need a 16 or an 18, a petite of those sizes will be structured better for you.

I'd definitely go to a bridal shop and let them measure you and figure out what size to get you. My sister was supposed to be 9 mos pg when she was in my wedding and they ordered her a size 18 (she ended up having the baby right before).

I was a 4-6 before pg with DD, i was the MOH in my SILs wedding at 33 weeks pg.

My dress was a size 16 and it was HUGE everywhere except the tummy where i needed it to be. It was non maternity.

They had to take the boning out, let out the seams and it still hurt so much. I had to buy a maternity dress to wear after my speech just to be comfy.

Don't pay attention to the size, you can always take in but you can't let out.

I am 21 weeks pg, and i just measured my tummy today=it's already 37 inches.

thanks girls. i am def bloated but i think its because of the cut/style/designer of the dress. its a bill levkoff but it has a defined/cut waist and then tealength a line skirt. the dress shop suggested they just pull it up/alter it to be an empire style for me because they did not sound like they knew what to order i'll figure it out and get back to you. i'm going to look like a whale
