Could this be the signs of colic
Hi Mommies,
My name is Christina & I don't get the chance to post as much but I do have a few questions.. I hope that you mommies can help me.
For the past couple of days my 5 & 1/2 wk old has been cranky & crying.. sometimes it's in the morning (like this a.m) or in the evening (like yesterday). This morning he cried from 7:45-8:45am. I changed his diaper and I checked to see if he was hungry (he wasnt). Finally at 9am which was his next feeding.. he ate and is now down for a nap.. a very light nap.. he's crying in btwn and stopping.
my ped. said that around this age a baby can develop colic. And now I'm wondering if this is the pattern for colic. What can I do to sooth him besides holding him? I have heard of this noise machine.. but I'm not sure what it does & if it can help & where can i get one?
one more question.. what does CIO mean?
thanks, christina

Re: Could this be the signs of colic
Not sure if it is colic, but wanted to give you
.
Have you tried "The Happiest Baby on the Block"?
Get the DVD, faster than reading the book.
It's basically the 5 S's:
1. Swaddle Tightly 2. Side/Stomach (hold them on their side or stomach, being on their back makes them feel like they are free-falling. 3. Swing them (rock them) 4. Shush them (or any white noise - needs to be as loud as their cries) 5. Suck -pacifier

Re: Could this be the signs of colic
Have you tried the Mylicon drops?? He could be gassy. Christopher was colicky and the only thing that soothes him was holding him outwards and bouncing him, the swing and the running the vacuum cleaner. You can also lay him down and do move his feet like he is pedaling a bike, that may relieve some of the gas. We also switchd to Nutramigen and it worked wonders

Re: Could this be the signs of colic
My son was colicky and he would fuss and cry between his naps and feedings and it was a hard cry, like he was in pain. We swtiched his formula to Nutramigen and he was a totally different baby. My DD is now 7 weeks and she was fussy in between feedings and naps but not as bad as my DS was, so I didn't think anything of it...On Friday she started to cry hard and wouldnt stop unless she was sleeping or eating. Saturday was no better. I went out and bought Nutramigen and already see a huge difference. She is happy!!!
She still sleeps at naptime and sleeps at bedtime....Last night she slept from 8:30-4:30!! I use a air purifier which is also like a white noise machine...
I also swaddle her at night..but I truly believe switching her formula made her feel better!! I am going to the ped today to speak with him and also get a RX for her formula since it's covered under insurance..
