Could use some advice...3 months old and naps...
DS follows all the rules..he is usually ready for a nap about 1 1/2 hours after each feeding or if he has been awake around 2 hours in a row. It takes me about a half hour to get him to take the nap and then he only sleeps for half hour. I have tried everything. Rocking him, his mobile, the swing...if i just leave him to soothe himself or fall asleep on his own he will end up screaming. How do i get him to nap on his own and sleep for more than 1/2 hour at a time.
ETA: He will take naps in his crib, and I have used the sound machine. It helps to soothe him but not sleep longer.

I'd love some advice too. My dd does the same thing. The only time she gets a really good nap is if she is in the car or out in the stroller, otherwise if she is home at's only a half hour and I'm lucky if I get that.

Overnight, K sleeps for 11-12 hours. Then she wakes up and has her bottle (8oz), I change her diaper, and love her for an hour.
Then she starts getting cranky, and I give her her Pedialyte, or the store brand.... whichever I have ready to go. She drinks about an ounce of it, and is down for another 3 hours. I think that the fact that she is eating so well keeps her content.

Re: Could use some advice...3 months old and naps...
Christopher is 5 months now, but at three months (when I went back to work) he had a really rough napping routine. But here is what he usually would do he wakes around 7ish is up for 2 hours then naps. when I was home I used to nap him in the swing for 30-60 minutes with the white noise on. He would cry a bit but then usually dosed off. Then around 3 he would take a 2-3 hour nap. I would bring him in his room, close the blinds, turn on the humidifier, swaddle him and rock him. Then I went back to work and he had a bad cat nap schedule where ILs could get him to nap for more than 30 minutes unless they held him. Now he is back a little. He naps in the AM for 30-90 minutes, this is usually 2-4 hours after he first wakes up for the day. Then early afternoon he will usually take a 20 minute cat nap in MILs arms or in his swing. Then in the afternoon around 4 he will take a 1-1.5 hour nap.
The way they were able to get him to sleep...dont laugh now....they swaddle him, put on the noise machine and then run the vacuum. He is asleep in 2 minutes. They sit with him for a bit and then put him down.

Re: Could use some advice...3 months old and naps...
DD will only take naps if I place her on her belly. She sleeps through the night, on her back, but naps, for some reason, only work when she belly sleeps. So I started putting her down for naps on her belly, in the den, so I can keep an eye on her to make sure she is Ok. She went from taking 30 minute naps to 2-3 hour naps.

DS only naps or sleeps for that matter really well when swaddled.
Have you tried swaddling?

Luke is taking 6 oz every 3 hours. 5 bottles a day. Sometimes he does a 4 hour stretch. He also sleeps 9pm-7am consistently.

I was going to try this, but afraid it was going to mess up his nightime sleeping. I might have to give napping on the belly a try.

Luke hated the swaddle when he was first born, and then became such a great sleeper I never needed it. I feel like If I try and swaddle him now he might go balistic.

k wakes, has an 8oz bottle goes to sleep after an hour and may need the assistance of an ounce or so of pedialyte. she norm wakes about 3-4 hours later and has a 7oz bottle awake for an hour, maybe a little more pedialyte, and down for another couple of hours. she wakes another 7oz, and same routine, but this time is usually down for the night by 7pm.
