Could you please recommend a baby monitor?
I am a pregnant newbie and don't know a dang thing about monitors. (Well, I really don't know anything about many products, so I'm sure there will be more questions in the coming months.) Could you please tell me what to look for in a monitor? Video/audio/motion sensor? What specific things do you like/dislike about yours?
TIA!!!!!!!

Re: Could you please recommend a baby monitor?
I have the Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor by: Summer Infant. Originally I was only going to get a sound monitor b/c Kays room is so close to outs, but friends were insisting that I get a video one. Now I am so glad that I got it b/c when the baby is fussing in her crib, instead of getting out of bed, I can just press the video button to check on her to see whether or not I need to get up. I would definitely suggest it. I find it to be a very clear picture, even in the dark at night.

Re: Could you please recommend a baby monitor?
well, it depends on what ur looking for- mine was a gift, but its fairly simple (no video or anything like that). i would just say if i was going to go out and buy my own right now, id spend about $50, and thatll get you a nice 900mhz (good range) and should come with one base (for DCs room) and 2 actual monitors. i keep one in our bedroom and just leave it there, and the other one is the mobile one (living room, kitchen, laundry room etc). my sister has one with a 3 bases (for the kids' different bedrooms) and it comes again, with 2 "mobile" ones....SO- if u are def planning a bigger family, i might opt for that one right from the get-go! i think she said hers was like $140 or something.... and no, i wouldnt get video. i never saw the point....i check on her once before i go to bed, and thats it. a find a lot of ppl get the video use it a lot in hte beginning (making sure newborn is alright, no suffocating etc), but then never end up using it after 4-5 monhts or so. i think the vid is pointless- youre going to HEAR the baby anyway with a regualr monitor, nad obviously u are going to go in to her/him....SO, thats my take on monitors. about $50, youll get a great one...

Re: Could you please recommend a baby monitor?
we have graco digital which was approx. 90 bucks...originally we bought one that was like 40 bucks and all I heard was interference. Though, to be honest...when she gets back into her crib all nite...I am thinking of getting a video monitor.

THat's the one I have... ALex is 18 months and we STILL use it. We say all the time that it was the very best purchase we ever made. I can peek on her when she's sleeping without waking her up - it's great! And when we have a babysitter, we just hand over the monitor to her... it's worth the money.

when I clicked on the website. It showed a bigger one for 99.99. Same brand same everything except larger tv screen. Is that one more expesive bc you can walk around with it? I wonder bc I already bought the 90 dollar digital I didnt want to top it with 170. If I had my box I would return it and get the one you mentioned. Maybe I will take a ride today to BRU in the rain!

Monitor
This one, no question. I have had all of the video monitors (Summer Infant, Safety First) and this one is the best. Great reception, great sound, great customer service. I currently have it with 2 cameras and it flips continuously between both kids' rooms. LOVE IT.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!! AM I PREGNANT?!?!?! Someone could have informed me.
That's what I get for responding to a PG post last night. The rumors are flying now.
Anyway ladies, I got the Summer Day/Night handheld and I still use it and he is nearly 3!!!!
And I also got the angelcare monitor when he started sleeping on his belly.
