Re: what baby gates do you recommend?
We actually had a problem Tuesday with our gates. I had the 1st years, supposdly they were top of stair gates......unfortunately John pushed it a little to hard and he ended up falling down the stairs, myself as well. I went on Consumer Reports and researched and bought the CR recommended gates. I bought the Evenflo High Traffic gate and the Safety First Stairtop gates. To block off rooms I use Safety First pressure gates.

I don't use pressure mounted gates anywhere, especially not at stairs. All our gates are wooden and hardware mounted to the wall. I think they are the safest when hardware mounted.

Definitely agree with Trish on the pressure mount gates. My MIL bought us an auto-close metal gate that has locking wheels. Andrew hasn't managed to tip it YET, but right now it sits at a 45 degree angle b/c he's been able to slowly push at it!
I have to fix it -- in the meantime I want to buy a sturdier gate with mounting hardware.
