- swing- 2/3 weeks i think -belly time right away pretty much but i am so bad about doing it with DS! -still don't know how or if the residue can be removed -well,,,,i don't know if you can avoid colic completely, but if you are BFing you can avoid milk products, citrus, spice, broccoli-which may cause extra gas/discomfort. although some babies don't have problems with these. i am currently taking strong probiotics which i think helps a lot with DS's gas and GI issues. apparently probiotics can help with colic/gas. do a google search if you are interested! you never know!

We put the baby in the swing right away.
Belly time at 1 month, although we didn't do it enough.
Didn't do anything with the white milk film. Its fine.
As far as I know, there is nothing you can do to avoid colic, although if it seems your DC has colic, you may be able to change your diet or change the formula to help make any stomach issues better. Also, burping helps the stomach issues as well.

Re: couple of random ?'s for BTDT moms (from brand new mom)
We started putting DS in the swing right away.
Tummy time started immediately. Within the first week we started doing about 5 minutes of tummy time per day (our Peds recommendation) to strengthen his neck muscles. He's 4 weeks old now and our Ped said he has excellent neck and head control already. I highly recommend starting tummy time as soon as possible. Even if its just for 2 or 3 minutes on the couch or bed (or on your chest).
The white residue I'm not sure about. I just noticed this on DS' tongue today and the Ped said its normal and its fine.

same exact here.
although, i will say, try to rotate your DD's head as much as possible when she is in things like the bassinet, bouncy, swing. Jack had the onset of flathead and we had to correct it which was very frustrating!

Re: couple of random ?'s for BTDT moms (from brand new mom)
-when did you start putting your baby in a swing? As soon as both DD's came home from the hospital
-when does belly time start? Right away. There is no reason not to - as long as you stay with your child in case they put their head face down. My ped encourages it right away to strengthen their muscles.
-how do i get rid of the white residue on my DD's tongue from the milk) You can wipe it off but there is no reason to.
-can i do anything now (DD is 11 days) to avoid colic later?? coming from someone who had 2 with colic. Nothing you can really do to avoid it. If you BF you can avoid foods that may make your child gassy or upset (caffeine, citrus, certain veggies, etc) but honestly if they have colic that might not help. Colic will just go away in time.

-when does belly time start? we began at 1 week also, a little at a time
-how do i get rid of the white residue on my DD's tongue from the milk) we just left it alone, wasn't really a big problem for DD
-can i do anything now (DD is 11 days) to avoid colic later?? To my knowledge, you can't really avoid something like that. If it happens it happens.

swing - she was a couple of weeks old belly time - I started once she was able to pick up her head. I really didnt do it that often b/c she really didnt like it residue - i dont think you can colic- as far as reducing gas , i think my bottles helped. I used the playtex drop ins and I do think that the really prevent DD from sucking in air and i think that helped.
