Re: couponers?

I do and i save a ton of money. I have quite a big stock pile and really only buy fresh veggies, meat and milk. Everything else I get either free or really cheap.
I also do the deals at Rite Aid. I love Rite aid. I dont pay for toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo. I pretty much never spend more then 10$ at Rite aid and I get a ton stuff.

If you haven't already joined a coupon site, i would definitely recommend afullcup.com. I learned everything I know from them. They even have an iphone app.

I have heard people say that you can only get junk with coupons but that's sooooo not true. I dont pay for cleaning products, soap, toiletries, over the counter meds because of coupons.

Coupons have allowed me to budget $50 a week for food, Health and beauty and cleaning products. We have saved a ton of money this past year!!

I highly recommended going on couponing message boards like afullcup.com and weusecoupons.com I learned everything from these boards. Also I only keep a stockpile to the point that I never run out of things and have to pay full price. So you really don't need that much space. For instance I make sure I have 4 tubes of toothpaste at all times. Whenever it gets less then 4 I look for deals(always free). Its really all about keeping enough on hand so you never have to pay full price for anything.

Re: couponers?

I was going to post something similar the other day!

I just started couponing several weeks ago.

I've gotten some great deals by utilizing these websites -

Krazy Coupon Lady - printable coupon list

Coupon Mom - Deals by State -- need to sign up - this site is great b/c it tells you what items you can get super cheap if you have certain coupons. I usually cross reference the deals listed on Coupon Mom and the printable coupons available on Krazy Coupon Lady.

I also scan the circulars each week for items that are on sale that I have coupons for.

Grocery stores double up to $.99 except for King Kullen which doubles $1.00 coupons as well.

Target doesn't double but they have their own coupons on their website and you can stack them. - 1 store & 1 manufacturers. I believe Walmart does the same.

I've gotten some really great deals recently--

Today I went to Pathmark and Stop & Shop, purchased $45 worth of groceries, spent $18. 2 weeks ago, I went to Pathmark and purchased $36 worth of groceries/cleaning products for $13!

The other day I went to Target w/ a $1 off 2 bags of hershey kisses + a $1.50 off 2 bags of hershey kisses store coupon. I bought 2 bags of leftover Valentine's Day hershey kisses for a whopping $.19 EACH!

I also signed up for Kellogg's, General Mills, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury etc. websites and they send you coupons that are usually better than the newspaper ones.

Re: couponers?

My boss and I just did really well at Shoprite! Before sales/coupons, our total was about $136. We paid $52 TOTAL! AND we got a $10 off our next purchase. So we spent about $26 each on 47 items, including $8.75 on nearly 3 lbs of steak!

Re: couponers?

I am really impressed with those of you who can save so much using coupons!! I use them but only save maybe $5 or so per shopping trip. I wish I could get into it enough to save a significant amount! I will check out those websites, thanks for the info!

Re: couponers?

For me, it's always hit or miss.

For the most part, the items I like and brands I buy rarely have coupons.

I also think that store brands are often a lot cheaper, even w/o a coupon.

And fresh fruit, veggies and meats generally do not have coupons either.

I have not invested a ton of time into couponing, but this has always been my experience overall.

For me, I try really hard to stick to a list and remember my coupons when I go to the store.

After I checked out at S&S the other day, I totally remembered I had a $5.00 off grocery coupon that I left at home, that would be expired by the time I go back this week.

I think the OP intended this thread to be a place where we can share our deals and hints on couponing.

Re: couponers?

Ah I'm excited I'm not the only one who does this!

I just started, but I've developed a small stockpile, and I've gotten a ton of food/supplies for our new house..I'm excited to try out my "abilities" once I have to start buying perishable food as well..

But for example, I went to ShopRite yesterday:

Purchased:

4 bags steam fresh potatoes on sale for 1.49 per bag, had a $1 off each coupon = .49/bag

4 bottles of 20 oz. coke = 1.69-1.69 coupon (i save the caps and you can get coupons on mycokerewards.com)=free

4 boxes of nescafe coffee to go = 1.39, had coupons for .65/1, doubled to 1.30 off= .09/box

1 shaker of goya adobo seasoning =1.29, had a coupon for .50/1, doubled to $1 off = .29

1 recycle bag = .99, had a coupon for .99 off = free

1 box of panko breadcrumbs = 1.79, had a coupon for .75/1, doubled to 1.50 = .29

had a $3 catalina from a previous shopping trip

paid 1.12 out of pocket

got another $3 catalina off my next shopping trip

sooooo, 15 items for 1.12 out of pocket!!

Re: couponers?

this week isn't that great..it's actually pretty upsetting bc it's the first week i'll get to do "real" shopping

Re: couponers?

I had a successful trip to Stop & Shop last night.

They're having a special on Kellogg's where if you buy 4 boxes (at reg. price), you get $6 automatically taken off. I bought Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Corn Pops, and Froot Loops ranging in price from $3.19-$3.69. I also purchased New York Frozen Garlic knots on sale from $4.29 to $2.29 and a box of Duncan Hines cake mix that was on sale for $1.25.

The total came out to $17.60, minus $6 for the Kellogg's, and then I had coupons:

$4/4 Kellogg's Cereal
$1.50 off cereal (S&S store Catalina coupon)
$1/1 Garlic Knots
$.35/1 cake mix - doubled to .70.

Out of pocket = $4.40 for 4 boxes of cereal, the garlic knots, and cake mix.

Also FYI, today is the first of the month so all of the online coupon sites have restocked coupons and there are some decent ones out there!

Re: couponers?

so today's trip

(up until about 6 weeks ago i had nothing bc my bf and i live with our parents, but we're getting our house this week and i wanted to start getting the things that i could for free or close to free)

walgreens:

toilet paper 12 pack.. 5.99 - $1 in store coupon - $2 rr from yesterday = 3.75 including tax for 12 rolls = .31/roll

shop rite:

1 ban deodorant ... 1.49 - .75/1 coupon = free

2 ajax detergents ... 1.77 each - $1/2 coupon = 1.27 each

1 can tuna = .49 w/ shop rite coupon

4 energy efficient lightbulbs = .99 each

i'm now stocked up for toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo, sponges, dish soap, laundry detergent, tooth paste, tooth brushes, floss, pasta, canned veggies and lotion to last until i can get everything for REAL cheap again

i also started a spread sheet with my "stock up" prices for each of these items

i'm actually really enjoying this

Re: couponers?

Haha I have so much fun with this. It's almost weird how fun!

I made a spreadsheet with all of my coupons that I can pull up on my iphone so I can see if I have a coupon for a particular item without digging through my book. When I get home, I delete the ones I've used and re-send to my phone.

I'm in Ronkonkoma but work in Melville so I go to stores all over. My favorite is the Shoprite in Commack.

I'm definitely hitting up Shoprite to spend my $27 Catalina coupons and then to Pathmark.

Have you checked out LivingRichWithCoupons.com? They pretty much break down the deals each week and are always on top of when new internet coupons come out.
