Cow Harbor Day - Tell me about it
Can anyone tell me what goes on on Cow Harbor day in Northport?

All of that. I have a friend running the race and was thinking of going but I have no idea what else goes on, how roads are, where to park, etc, etc?

The race is so much run to watch (never ran) but the day of the parade is great! Like any parade, you have to deal with parking and cash. Be prepared to walk. The parade is long. I remember one year it was 2 hours. Then after, main street is shut down and vendors are out on the street and in the park and there is food and mini concerts and lots of people. People bring stollers and dogs. People get drunk. But it's a lot of fun!!!
For the race, good luck parking b/c much of the area is blocked off. I would actually either walk from a friend's house or get dropped off when I'd go. Actually, I can't really remember when I actually drove and parked.  If you know anyone in the area, see if you can park at their house and walk. It saves aggravation. Don't try to park by scudder or woodbine. Not worth the attempt. I think closer to Ocean Avenue might be better but then again, I think the parade might start over there. Okay, I'm no help.

I can't tell you where to park but I did the race a few years ago and every street around it is closed. It's a real PITA if you are not living in the area. Unless they changed it the area by the school is closed, main street is closed all the way down to the water.
ETA: It's a PITA too if you live there. You can't get your car out either.

The race is on Saturday. I haven't been to the race in years.
The parade and all other activities take place on Sunday...this is when we go.
So much fun.
Lots and lots of booths set up selling crafts, food, raffles, etc.
All of Main Street is shut down, businesses all open selling their items.
Parking is a challenge!
We always end up walking UP one of the beautiful hills of Northport.
Im thinking this year of just parking at my parents house and walking.
Supposed to be gorgeous out, so, we'll see.
