Coworkers that don't read their email
I work for the county in a facility that is open late/on the weekends & a weekly schedule is printed up & circulated to all of the employees. Well, I just got LECTURED by a Sr. Board member because one of my employees' hours is incorrect on the schedule this week. I let them know that I had in fact emailed the changes for my dept. to the woman who does the schedule 3 days before she created it. I was then told that I was WRONG for having emailed it to her & expecting her to actually check her email and that from now on I need to follow up w/her to make sure that she is doing her job!! Fine, I'll do that, but W*T*F!?!?!?! How come I’m wrong & the other person isn’t?!?!?! Seriously – I was told that it’s 100% my fault because I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that she only checks her email once every now and then...even though my dept. is clear across the building & our interaction is minimal at best. I'm sorry, but isn’t this a WORK PLACE?!?! Isn’t she a DEPARTMENT HEAD?!!? Shouldn’t she be held at least somewhat responsible for checking her email at least ONCE a day!?!?!?! If she can’t even do that, then maybe, JUST MAYBE it is time to RETIRE!!!!! Sometimes I really hate working with a bunch of old ladies
Thank you. Rant over.

Re: Coworkers that don't read their email
oh that would make me so mad. We get that here where senior management does not read their emails and it's our responsibility to ensure communication is met. No as senior management it's their responsibility to read their emails and make sure communication is met and things get approved. I shouldnt have to send an email, then follow up with them with a phone call that most likely will go to voice mail, which then has to be follow up with a walk across the building to their assistant to advise the assistant to have their boss not only read the email but also check their voicemail.
Some things in corporate will just never make sense to me

Re: Coworkers that don't read their email
Exactly!!! That's just it...what a BIG waste of time it is!
This person just lectured me AGAIN in front of MY boss, because that same employee just called in to change her hours today because her car broke down. I was lectured about how her hours had just changed & I'm at fault because it's not on the schedule. Thankfully my boss (the real head honcho here) looked at her & said "In all fairness, she just called in the change...how was M supposed to get that on the schedule that was distributed LAST WEEK?!?" I think that this woman is just feeling nasty today & decided to make me her friggin' target because I'm the 1st person that she saw this morning. The weird thing is that we're pretty friendly! Why is she laying it on me so hard today?!?!
Now I'm all cranky - I should go home, because I'm about to blow...she set me off and now I feel like everyone else here is doing their best to pi$$ me off...
